CASTING THE FILM

To bring to life the role of Cassie Sullivan, the filmmakers turned to Chloë Grace Moretz.  For the filmmakers, Moretz combined the right combination of talents and traits: she is a seasoned performer (especially needed if the character would be appearing in multiple films), but, like her character, is herself just coming of age.  The result was a perfect fit of actress and character – and a match that only became more deeply ingrained for the filmmakers as filming proceeded. “As an artist and writer I do believe in serendipity,” comments Yancey.  “I have the writer’s tendency to become overly emotionally involved with my characters.  So it was very important to me when I heard that they will be making a film that they got the right actors, and everyone’s going to agree that they got the right actors.  I can’t imagine anyone else but Chloë now in the role.  From the very first scenes that were shot I knew that we had found our Cassie.”

“Chloë became pretty much synonymous with the character because she inhabits Cassie so well,” adds Blakeson.  “Playing somebody who’s normal in extraordinary circumstances, rather than somebody extraordinary in normal circumstances, gave Chloë the ability to plug into stuff from her own life, and you can really see that coming through in her performance.  That allows the viewer to really go there with her and makes it easier to accept the big leaps of the story.  Watching your own world slowly evolve into an Orwellian world is more terrifying than if we were just dropped there in the first place.”

“We were very lucky to get Chloë because she’s so proficient at everything,” Blakeson continues.  “She’s fantastic at emotional scenes, family scenes, fun scenes, but she’s really good at the tougher action sequences – she’s wildly experienced for somebody so young.”

In fact, despite her age, Moretz has done so many action films that she has a very good sense of the sequences she can handle herself.  “I've done action since I was 11 years old,” says Moretz.  “Action is my second hand… it’s super fun and easy for me.  It's fun when it's the real thing.  The car fight ended up being my favorite sequence to shoot.  It was really awesome and it's exciting to see fighting done in close quarters.”

The most important thing in Cassie’s life is her brother, Sam – and she’ll do anything to protect him.  “Cassie and Sam are the yin and yang of this story – they’re both going through the same issues, in different locations and under different circumstances, that come up over and over again in the movie,” says Blakeson. “By the time they get back together, they’ve both been through a similar experience and are very different people from when they started.”

To cast this key role, the filmmakers conducted an extensive search before Zackary Arthur landed the role.  “J was very specific about wanting a young actor who was not jaded, and neither too young or too old,” says producer Lynn Harris.  “If the actor was too young, there’s no way he could have survived his ordeal, and if he was too old, he wouldn’t have the vulnerability.  We needed a kid who could access emotions that even a mature actor has a hard time accessing, but be small enough that you could buy that he’s Chloë’s little brother.”

TV News for Delirium: We all found out recently that Delirium would be getting recording a pilot for TV. The latest on that is the Emma Roberts (Julia Robert's niece) got casted to be main lead of Lena. This was reported on Entertain Weekly HERE.

This really gets me all kinds of excited, I love the Delirium series. So its a wonderful day when one of your favorite series gets picked to be TV show (crossing fingers the pilot is a hit). So a big Thank you FOX for picking up this series from Lauren Oliver.

What do you think of Emma Roberts being casted as Lena?  Who do you think would be the perfect Alex?

Movie news for Fallen: Yes you heard that right. Fallen is headed towards the big screen. The Hollywood Reporter shared the news HERE. Director Scott Hicks is in final talks to direct Lauren Kate's book. Kathryn Price and Nicole Millard have adapted a screenplay in what Mayhem and IF Entertainment hope to be the beginning of a new popular film franchise. They are hoping it can be the next Twilight.

So are you excited to see Fallen in theaters? Who would you cast as Luce or Daniel?

Movie news for Vampire Academy: This news has been a long time coming. May of us even gave up at some point that it would happen. So I know this was a very welcome surprise to many fan's of Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series.

The news that was reported by Deadline HERE. "Reliance Entertainment and IM Global are co-financing the first installment of a new film franchise based on the six-volume Richelle Mead young adult novel series that will come to the screen as Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters." Yup you read that right, they are giving the film version a name change: Blood Sisters. I think the name works for the film.

Also with this news the 3 main characters of Vampire Academy were casted and announced at the same time. Zoey Deutch will play Rose, Lucy Fry will play Lissa and Danila Kozlovski will play Dimitri. This is one cast that I believe they nailed right from the start. Preger Entertainment is who made all this happen. Reliance will finance the film and sister company IM Global’s Ford is handling foreign sales and will broker domestic.

Movie news on Divergent: Summit Enterintment has added Divergent to their movie website. Can't get any more official than that. They have even design a logo, not sure if this will be the official logo or if we will see a updated look later on.

Divergent is set to release in theaters on March 21st, 2014. This is one red carpet that Once Upon a Twilight will not miss (Vampire Academy too). Blog Tour: Insanity by Lauren Hammond Movie Casting + Giveaway

Welcome to the next stop in Lauren Hammond's Blog Tour for Insanity. Insanity is the first book in Lauren's Asylum series. The tour is hosted by Confessions of a BOOKAHOLIC. Today we get to share with you who would be ideal to play these characters on the big screen.

Lauren Hammond Links: Blog / Goodreads / Facebook / Twitter

Author Bio: It all began with a dinosaur, a T-Rex to be exact. He was the main character in my very first short story. Me and T, well, we went places. He is the reason I won my first essay contest at age ten. And he is probably one of the number one reasons, I pursued a career in writing.

Throughout high school, I was what you would call a rebel. Someone who had convinced herself that she had life figured out at age sixteen. Still, writing was my only safe-haven during that time. I wrote notebooks full of poetry, even writing fellow classmates papers for them.

Unbeknowest to me, creative writing, seemed to be my one, true calling, my passion in life.
At age twenty, I began writing my first novel. After that, everything seemed to fall into place.
I won Best Poets and Poems of 2007, and The Editor's Choice award for my poem, Summer Days.

Also, during that time I wrote or co-wrote fifteen different screenplays, some which earned me finalist spot in various screenplay competitions.

In 2010, I've come full force, with my novel Love Sucks, that was released by Punkin House Press, in August of 2010. On top of Love Sucks, I have six novels that are slated to be released through the next five years. Also, doing some various marketing work for authors and publishers.

I pride myself in telling fellow writers to always follow their dreams. Who knows where I would be if I would have given up.

Insanity Movie Casting

Yay!

This is so much fun!

I’d like to Thank Once Upon A Twilight so much for having me on the blog today!

So…

Insanity has to be one of my all-time favorites out of all the books I’ve written. So casting the movie, yay! So much fun!

Adelaide Carmichael ~

Frances Bean Cobain ~ HANDS DOWN. She has an innocence to her beauty that reminds me of Adelaide. I know she’s not really an actress, but when I think of Adelaide this is what I imagine she’d look like.

Damien Allen ~

Logan Lerman ~ I’m sure most of you know who Logan Lerman is. Ahem *Percy Jackson.* But he could also be an awesome Damien, with those blue, blue eyes. And that dark hair.

Dr. Elijah Watson ~

Ryan Gosling ~ This is a no brainier for me. LOL. This is exactly who I pictured for Elijah. On top of looks though, Ryan Gosling is an amazing, amazing actor and I’m entirely confidently he could pull off Dr. Watson’s dark, edgy side and make you shudder while doing it.

Aurora O’Reilly~

Isla Fisher ~ Even though she’s quite a bit older than the Aurora in the book. I don’t think anyone could play her quite like Isla Fisher could.

I mean we all know she can play crazy. “I’ll find you.” ~ Isla Fisher ~ Gloria from Wedding Crashers.

Thanks again for having me! This was so much fun!

Insanity
Asylum #1
Author: Lauren Hammond
Reading Level: YA
Released: May 8th 2012
Available: Amazon / Barnes & Noble

Summary: (from Author) Summary: Sometimes love...can drive you crazy.

Adelaide Carmichael and Damien Allen couldn't be more opposite.

Adelaide's mother abandoned her when she was ten years old, leaving her to be raised by her abusive and alcoholic father.

Damien on the other hand came from a wealthy family, was a local celebrity, and seemed to have a bright future ahead of him.

Despite their differences, Adelaide and Damien were young, wild, and fiercely in love.

And they had a plan.

They were going to run away.

Be together forever.

And their plan was set in motion, until tragedy struck and for some reason, Adelaide wound up in The Oakhill Institution for the insane.

Adelaide has no idea what she did to wind up at Oakhill, but she knows one thing for sure...

She wants out.

And after Damien follows her there to aid her in escaping, Adelaide slowly begins putting together the pieces of her memory that are missing.

And it doesn't take Adelaide long to figure out that sometimes...

That one true love never dies.

Excerpt:

Shoving my feet off the side of the bed, new surroundings burn my eyes. Tan plaster walls instead of thick white padded ones. One oblong barred window. Two dressers. Two closets. Two beds.

They've moved me to a different room.

A gentle squeaking noise bounces off the walls and my eyes avert to my right. Oh crap. They put me in a room with a nut job.

They say I'm a nut job.

But not like this.

Not even close.

She rocks back and forth on her cot, knees to her chest, twisting a piece of her wiry, red hair between her fingertips. Her freckled arms are trembling. She sings with vibrato.

I am slowly going crazy. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six.

Switch.

Crazy going slowly am I. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six.

Switch.

I think about screaming again. I think about plugging my ears. Somebody turn her off.

She lifts her head slowly, a maddening look in her big, brown eyes, an eerie smile crawling across her pale, freckled lips. “Shh,” she whispers. “They're coming for us.”

“Who's they?”

She shakes her head and lets out a cackle laced with the deepest kind of crazy. I think they put her in here with me purposely. They're trying to break me. They think if they put me around truly insane people that I'll accept my place here.

Well...They are wrong.
