Summary: (from goodreads) Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath, where immortals Feed on the emotions of despairing humans. Now she's returned- to her old life, her family, her friends- before being banished back to the underworld... this time forever.
She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can't find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.

Nikki longs to spend these months reconnecting with her boyfriend, Jack, the one person she loves more than anything. But there's a problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who first enticed her to the Everneath, has followed Nikki to the mortal world. And he'll do whatever it takes to bring her back- this time as his queen.

As Nikki's time grows short and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she's forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole's...

You know my style that when there is a GORGEOUS Cover, I must talk about it first. This cover is such a great representation of the story-line. We know its beautiful but when you can match beauty and meaning to flow with the book, then its when a cover becomes Great! P.S. I want that red dress.

Now on to this show piece that Brodi Ashton created for us. Everneath is paranormal and has that supernatural elements, does it mean that it similar to all stories in the genre? No, absolutely not. Everneath will open a new world and transport you while you read these pages. Its brings a new detail to the story of Persephone and Hades that makes this new spin different. Favorite part of this book is Brodi's writing style and I loved how she broke up the chapters into different time frames happening to the character in the past and present. Kuddos on that!

In Everneath we follow Nikki, she has just woken up, you can say. She has been down in the Everneath or to better understand it as the underworld. Cole is the immortals that brought Nikki to the Everneath when she was having a rough time in her life. Little did Nikki know what she agreed to. So now 100 years have passed in the Everneath and Nikki makes it back to the human world. Six months have passed since she disappeared. Nikki came back to try and say her good bye's this time the proper way with her dad, brother and her boyfriend Jack. The thing is Nikki has 6 month only to do so before she gets sucked back in to either the Everneath with Cole again or worse the tunnels. Sounds easy right? Yea it's not. It will be a challenge everyday for Nikki to accomplish what she wants while trying to understand all her new feelings. What will Nikki do when the time has run out? Who will she choose or how will she choose? You know what Ill say next. Read the book when it comes out!!! you will not be disappointed. The paces is a bit slower for the first book in a series but understandable, since you are introduced to the characters.

So did you take notes on this review? You get impressive world building with tons of originality. You get very interesting characters that you will either love or hate. Then my favorite part the dual narrative consisting of Nikki pre-Everneath and Nikki post-Everneath. I will be counting down the days now until the second book in the series comes out, might just end up in the Everneath myself from the horribly long wait.

p.s. Look for my recap of The Dark Days of Winter stop when Brodi and a few more authors stop in Houston. I will have great content, pictures and a giveaway you won't want to miss.

  2. I read this book a few months ago so my wait has been even longer than your own for the second book. I can't wait to see what happens in the next one because for me this first book was hauntingly beautiful. I loved how the story was a darker romance and can't wait for more.

Thanks for the great review, I'm glad you enjoyed this one.
