I wish you were here, Momma. I don't know what to do and I don't have anyone to ask, "I whispered as I sat there in the quiet cemetery  I wanted to believe she could hear me. I didn't like the idea of her being under the ground but after my twin sister, Valerie, had died I'd sat here in this spot with my mom and we'd talked to Valerie. Momma had said her spirit was watching out for us and she could hear us. I so wanted to believe that now.  (6% ebook)

Blog Tour Blast: Blood Awakening by Jamie Manning + Book Trailer Reveal + Giveaway

Author: Jamie Manning
Web † Goodreads † FacebookTwitter † Pinterest
My name is Jamie and I am a writer.

I've always wanted to be a writer (like most writers, I'm sure) but not until the last few years have I taken it seriously (after I read a tiny, unknown book called Twilight). I was always told growing up that I had to get a job and take care of myself, so I pushed my dream of writing a book to the back of my mind and entered the workforce. Fast-forward many, many years and here I am, trying to make a go at it.

I stumbled across Blogger in 2010 and my world of writing exploded. I have met (via the web) so many amazing writers and industry professionals and book bloggers that have passed on their wisdom and experience and successes and failures. So many, in fact, that I have no excuse to sit down and write out the stories living in my head. Which is what I'm now attempting to do.

I enjoy reading more than most other things (well, except maybe for writing. And TV. No way am I giving up my TV) . I attempt to write YA (paranormal and dystopian) and I love it.

Blood Born, book one in The Blood Prophecy trilogy, was released by Pendrell Publishing April 24, 2012. Book two, Blood Awakening, is coming April 2013.

Summary: (from goodreads) tick

it's almost
time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.

Upon finishing Unravel Me, I must say that I was slightly unraveled myself. My mind, my emotions, my allegiance to characters were all questioned throughout this read. I’m so glad that I read Destroy Me first, as I was able to get more background information on Warner, as Unravel Me truly kept my mind spinning and many questions were answered preparing me for the 2nd novel. Tahereh did a wonderful job of giving the reader an authentic visualization of what the mysterious and secret under world of citizens in training, for an upcoming war against the Reestablishment. Juliette finds herself in a new place and environment unlike any that she has been in before. She doesn’t have people knocking down her door to be friends with her. There is still this state of fear, that with only one touch from Juliette, as beautiful as she is, those who were touched, would be gone forever.

Now if you read a lot of young adult fiction like I do, do you ever get this feeling that sometimes overall plots are filled with a struggle between the main character and a love interest, or should I say two love interest? I found myself thinking back to Bella, Edward and Jacob, Katniss, Peeta and Gale, and Ellie, Will and Caden. Who will win Juliette’s heart in the midst of all of this turmoil? I know who’s team I’m on. I questioned it at first, but my mind is very hard to change. I read Unravel Me very, very slowly, knowing that book 3 would not come for a very long time. Devouring every single page, every single detail, piecing together what I could, trying to make sense of all the events that were happening with each page turn.

Lastly, for all of you loyal fans out there, you are truly in for a treat. Shatter Me was great, Unravel Me is awesome. The similes, personification, and metaphors woven throughout this novel on almost every sing page, is like no writing I have ever read. I wanted to highlight every single piece of figurative language I could find, but the count was endless. What a perfect example of writing to share with aspiring writers or students for examples of writing at its best. Juliette, Adam, Warren and Kenjii are the stars of this installment. Dedicate an endless day and night of reading, for you won’t be able to put it down.
