Summary: (from goodreads) It's another sucky year at Bathory High for Vladimir Tod. The evil vampire D'Ablo is hunting for the ritual that could steal Vlad's powers. His best friend Henry doesn't want to be his drudge anymore. And as if all that weren't enough, it's getting harder for Vlad to resist feeding on the people around him. When months go by with no word from Uncle Otis and D'Ablo shows up demanding Vlad's father's journal, Vlad realizes that having a normal high school year is the least of his concerns. Vlad needs to act fast, and even his status as the Pravus won't save him this time . .

I liked this book, but things are starting to get darker and scarier in Vlad's world as D'Ablo continues to look for ways to harm Vlad. And a new character in this book, Ignatius, wants to not only kill Vlad but make him suffer.

In this book, it gets harder for Vlad to drink blood from the blood bags Nelly brings home for him. He starts to crave Meredith's blood and feels ashamed because he doesn't want to become a monster. He meets a new group of friends, the Goth kids who hang out a The Crypt in Stokerton. He admits to them that he is a vampire and they act like it is no big deal. Nelly throws Vlad an awesome 15th birthday party where she invites over 40 people, and many of them come. He is the happiest he has been in a very long time, even though Otis is away.

Henry and Vlad's friendship becomes compromised in this book because Henry is Vlad's vampire slave. That means Henry has to do whatever Vlad tells him to do and he is finally getting sick of it. He doesn't want to be Vlad's drudge anymore and asks Vlad to find a way to reverse it.

Vlad does something he vowed he would never do and it changes everything... He gets himself in trouble and Henry comes to his aid, so their friendship is mended, as long as Vlad continues to look for a way to release Henry as his drudge.

Vlad has horrible nightmares throughout this book that lead to a climatic ending where Vlad's life, and others, are at grave risk...again.
