Summary: (from goodreads) The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

One of the best feelings I experience when I read books, is that WOW moment. You know it right away, it happen in the first couple of pages and it just holds on till the end. Half-Blood did that for me. Jennifer's world building in this novel is excellent. When you combine Gods and their offspring, the books tend to be aces. The story you wanted for it to continue and never end. I'm telling you everything just fell into place with this book. Add to the greatness of this book , the fascinating cover it has. I'm in love with the cover, the colors and the art design are PERFECT!.

Half-Blood is a story that follow Alexandria (Alex). She is a half-blood. She is the daughter of a Pure blood mother and a mortal father. Her mother is the child of a two Hematoi which give them godlike powers. Half-blood have two options in their lives. They either become fighters or servants to the pure bloods. Alex has been on the run for 3 years with her mother. She doesn't know the reason her mother left the covenant except that they are not to return. The one fatal day, Alex and her mother are attacked by Daimons and Alex's mother does not survive and Alex takes off running so she is not a victim also. She is able to defend and kill daimons in the process which is incredible since she is not even trained. On the run when Alex once again encounters Daimons, Sentinels show up and save her and return her back to the covenant. Turns out they have been looking for her for quite some time. Alex must once again begin to live life in side the covenant walls and she will have to show if she is able to stay in school and train to finally become a sentinel like she has always wanted to. Sounds easy right? Never when your dealing with gods and their children. Alex has so much to fight against and for that hopefully with the help of Aiden (hottie pure-blood) she can prove herself without letting her feeling affect her training. Now get ready for surprises and bumps along the way. Half-Blood will leave you wanting more!!!

Now comes the wait for Pure the second in the series. I know I will devour as soon as I get my hands on it. If you are a fan of ancient mythology about gods and their offspring and like a good fight plus a side of romance then Half-Blood is for you. Go on and order this book right away! This can be read by YA or Adult fans and girls and guys alike. Happy Reading.

P.S. One of my favorite books of this year, just saying!
