Summary: (from goodreads) Payne, twin sister of Vishous, is cut from the same dark, warrior cloth as her brother: A fighter by nature, and a maverick when it comes to the traditional role of Chosen females, there is no place for her on the Far Side… and no role for her on the front lines of the war, either.

When she suffers a paralyzing injury, human surgeon Dr. Manuel Manello is called in to treat her as only he can- and he soon gets sucked into her dangerous, secret world. Although he never before believed in things that go bump in the night- like vampires- he finds himself more than willing to be seduced by the powerful female who marks both his body and his soul.

As the two find so much more than an erotic connection, the human and vampire worlds collide … just as a centuries old score catches up with Payne and puts both her love and her life in deadly jeopardy.

(AUDIO BOOK PORTION)

Please don't fall out of your seats just yet. I am not giving the book or the story a 2 tree review, I'm only giving the audio version a 2 tree. Basically the 2 tree is for the narrator and how I enjoyed listening to Jim read Lover Unleashed. As far as the book, I have already read and reviewed it in the past. You can see after I talk about the audio, I will once again add my review for the book itself below.

So being the big Black Dagger Brotherhood Fan I am, I was very excited to listen to the last book in the series in audio. I still consider myself new to the audio book world, but I've now listen to about 10 audio books and have heard different readers. Jim Frangione is not what I would expect as a reader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood. I felt that his voice sounds to old to be these characters I have fallen pretty hard for. He just doesn't have the hot sexy male vampire voice. He does have a good reading voice just not for this type of genre. This is the 9th book and before this audio, I guess I always heard The WARDen reading the books inside my head. This is a series I still consider my #1 favorite adult series, I just won't be listening to them anymore. I prefer to keep reading them and picturing J.R. Ward reading her characters in my head. Now if you are a audio book fan, and usually always listen to audio then you will most likely enjoy Jim's narrating.

(NOVEL PORTION)

My original book review from April 4th 2011:
The Warden does it again. What I really loved about this book was that she wrote in tons of Vishous. I thought reading about Manny only would slow the book down but she gave us both and more. I always think while I'm reading these books, that I would love to meet the author in person and see in to her mind. The series she has created, there is nothing out there that grabs you and takes over you while you read about these Brothers. This still to date is my favorite Adult series. Sometimes one is concerned that the series has gone on to long, but on the contrary with this series. I don't want them to end. There are still a few I would love to read there story and the ones that have been written, read new material as well. This series you can't read out of order, there is just to much you wouldn't understand if you did. The Warden gives us romance, mystery, heart ache and her signature lovemaking. How hot is the lovemaking, its burns 3rd degree. This is for Adults, anyone younger than 18 I strongly do not recommend, she write some scenes that you have to have a good stomach for.

So the story begins that Payne is paralyzed and is at the Brothers compound. Jane, V's shellan goes looking for her old boss Dr. Maunel Manello. She finally finds him and convinces him to come in even though he is in total shock to see Jane alive. He immediately finds himself attracted to Payne when he sees her lying in the bed, they plan the surgery but have to move her to the human hospital. So of course mind scrubbing has to happen once the surgery is completed. Well this is when everything goes south. Make sure if you haven't read this series to start with the first and if you have read the series, get ready for a ride. The Warden will not disappoint.

We know the next book will be on Tohrment. I'm excited to read about Tohr, he is due for some happiness. Now I do hope we get more of Qhinn and Blay in the next one.
