#BIR2011: Author Stephanie Perkins Interview + Giveaway

The day has come, it's the last day of #BIR2011. So what better way to end it than with the book and author that make me HAPPY when I read her books. You still have time to check out all the other post and giveaway that are still going on. Tons of great features and in my case even special scenes from books. Make sure you also visit the main blog for this event which is Best I've Read blog.

Today featured on the Best I've Read blog: DELIRIUM by Lauren Oliver & THE UNBECOMING OF MARA DYER by Michelle Hodkin

Here is a full list of all the blogs participating:

So like I mention I wanted to close it out with one if not the best young adult contemporary romance book out there. Actually anything written by Stephanie Perkins is just a ray of sunshine and good for the soul to read. Stephanie Perkins is the author of Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door. You can read all my reviews for Stephanie's book HERE which include Lola and the Boy Next Door.

OUaT: Hi Stephanie and welcome to BIR11. Here at OUaT we are big fans of your amazing books. Lola and the Boy Next Door was truly a favorite this year, how hard or easy was it to write Lola?

Thank you. I’m honored to be here. Writing LOLA was, um, hard. Very hard. So hard that I still don’t have the words for it. Try me next year? Ha!

OUaT: When you were writing Lola, did you always know that Anna and Etienne would be making cameos in Lola's book?

Yes and no. I started writing LOLA in 2000, so when I took some time away from it and wrote ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS, I still had LOLA on the brain, and I accidentally wrote in a number of similarities. So when I picked Lola’s story back up, Anna and Étienne easily sneaked inside.

OUaT: When you write your novels, did you expect or hope that they would inspire someone while reading that might be in high school or even college, that might be having that hard time being accept, that they could be strong and overcome what they were going thru?

Did I expect? No.

Did I hope? Yes, in my more egotistical moments.

But now I actively hope that it’s true. It would be a wonderful thing to give inspiration or comfort to someone who needs it.

OUaT: When I read your books I am completely overcome with so much love and happiness, your books are the books I know to read when I want to feel great and just full of happiness. What book or books cause this same emotion when you read them?

That is a fantastic compliment, indeed. Thank you! The Harry Potter series is an easy choice. Jane Austen, Meg Cabot, Katie Fforde, and Shannon Hale also give me incredible feelings of happiness.

OUaT: How much can you share about Isla's book, can you possible give us a sneak peak of some sort?

ISLA AND THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER is still in super secret mode. The only things I can confirm are that: (A) It takes place in Paris, and (B) She’s the same Isla who has a small role in ANNA.

OUaT: If you had to do it all over-again, would you change anything in any of your books?

Yes, of course.

OUaT: Crayons or Markers?

Markers.

OUaT: What’s your favorite color?

Lime green.

OUaT: Have you ever written a character who resembles your personality?

Every single one of them.

OUaT: Do you read the reviews on your books? if so, do you pay any attention to them or let them influence you in any ways?

No and no. I’m rather selfish. I write for myself and myself alone. It’s just a lovely bonus that other people are interested in reading my work, too.

Thank you Stephanie for taking the time out and sharing with us today. Can't wait for Isla!!!!  Thanks to Dutton today we are offering one copy of Lola and the Boy Next Door for giveaway. Wooohooo!!!

  9. I love when an author admits that writing a book is hard, but yet the end result comes out so great. The blood, sweat and tears is definitely worth the time and effort put into it.
