Summary: (from goodreads) For centuries, there have been rumors about a lowly caste of supernatural beings known as the Terrae Angeli. Armed with the power to control Earth, Fire, Wind and Water, these warriors and their apprentices clandestinely serve as guardians for humans in danger.

Forced to become mortal, ex-teen angel Griffin has been banished from the Terrae Angeli. Struggling to adjust, he enrolls in the heaven-and-hell known as high school. In spite of his friends’ support, Centennial High proves to be a battleground, complete with a malicious math teacher.

And to make matters worse, his Mentor, Basil, has been ordered to take on a new apprentice, the gifted and egotistical seventeen-year-old Sergei, whose covert attacks make Griffin’s home life as bleak as a Siberian winter.

Caught between school, Sergei, and a desperate secret, Griffin is certain of one thing: the only way to fight a Cold War is with Fire.

Griffin, still staggering from the aftershock of his test, was still struggling to comprehend and adapt to what would be his new life as a human. Due to no fault of his and the unfairness of his previous mentor , his wings as a Terrae Angeli are taken away and now he won't be able to do what he was created to do. The harsh and abusive environment , that had taken away his self worth and which he fought to survived seems a wasted effort now. Now, even with the help and tough love of Basil, his new mentor, all this self-confidence that he was starting to feel, has taken major set back and once again he feels worthless.

Secrets kept from him to protect him and secret events he keeps to himself to protect others will change his life once again. Only his good heart and solid nature and all the support from the most honorable and caring person, Basil, will help keep him afloat.

The story is short, but contains a superior essence blending the characters in a well developed plot that is just right. The unexpected ending opens the door and raises the anxiety level of expectancy for the 3rd book, Griffins Storm, which after reading the sneak peak can't be released soon enough. I recommend, if you have not read the first book to read it before reading this one, it most definitely helps to understand what happened and the reason behind this book.

Thanks to Darby we have one copy of the first book: Griffin Rising in the series to give to a reader.
