Summary: (from goodreads) Mackenzie and Amy were best friends. Until Amy was brutally murdered.

Since then, Mac’s life has been turned upside down. She is being haunted by Amy in her dreams, and an extremist group called the Trackers has come to Mac’s hometown of Hemlock to hunt down Amy’s killer: A white werewolf.

Lupine syndrome—also known as the werewolf virus—is on the rise across the country. Many of the infected try to hide their symptoms, but bloodlust is not easy to control.

Wanting desperately to put an end to her nightmares, Mac decides to investigate Amy’s murder herself. She discovers secrets lurking in the shadows of Hemlock, secrets about Amy’s boyfriend, Jason, her good pal Kyle, and especially her late best friend. Mac is thrown into a maelstrom of violence and betrayal that puts her life at risk.

Kathleen Peacock’s thrilling novel is the first in the Hemlock trilogy, a spellbinding urban fantasy series filled with provocative questions about prejudice, trust, lies, and love.

Can I say that this book was WOW! A whole lot of mysteries with the end being as captivating as an ending can be! Amazing! I enjoyed this book from beginning to end and can’t wait for the next installment, although It won’t come out for a while! The cover captures the story to its full extent. Describing the main character exactly.

Hemlock is a story of a community who is against werewolves, and with reason. Senator Walsh’s granddaughter was killed due to a werewolf attack and her family, including her two best friends and her boyfriend will stop at nothing to find the killer, even if it means to risk their lives. The twists and turns in this story are mind blowing, when you believe you may have found the killer in the story, the story takes a wild turn leaving you breathless and eager to read more to find out who is was involved.

The characters in this story are awesome. I liked each and every one of them. We read the story through Mac’s point of view and I must admit, i was shocked to learn of the love triangle when all along i believe that Mac and Kyle were the only ones in the romance part of this story but boy was I wrong. I was completely baffled when the truth came out and people Mac believed to be only that, people, turned out to be something more. When the story started to unravel, and all the truth came out the author did an amazing job at organizing and placing every event in an order that you can follow. Although, there were times I said, WHOA, where did that come from, but that was the best part.

Hemlock goes into complete lock down when the Senator’s granddaughter and Mac’s best friend is attacked and killed by a werewolf attack. Not only is Mac terrified, she is actually caught between an attack, only to find out it’s one of her own friends!! Mac in the entire story goes with her gut instinct and does what she feels is the right thing to do. You will fall in love with this character from page 1. I highly recommend this book! Amazing READ!

  3. I have a copy of this and have been concerned about reading it since I'm not usually a big paranormal fan but I want to be more adventurous. Everything you said was reassuring for me, except for the love triangel bit :( I like hearing that the author skillfully organizes everything-I definitely don't want to be confused following all the ups and downs of this story.
