Witches inhabit our world, organized in covens and hiding behind a shroud of secrecy—the Veil.

Skye’s London coven sends her to Seattle’s Greenwood High to find the Singularity, an unusually gifted witch who may break the Veil and trigger a dangerous new era of witch-hunting. Things get complicated when Skye meets a charming new classmate, Drake. Skye’s job becomes even trickier when she clashes with Jane, an intimidating rival witch.

Drake falls for the mysterious Skye, but odd accidents, potion mix-ups, and the occasional brush with death kind of get in the way of romance. Once he discovers Skye is a witch, he goes to war for her, even though his only weapons are a nice set of abs and a sharp sense of humor.

Fighting off wicked Jane and the other dark forces hell-bent on seizing the Singularity's immense power, Skye and Drake will risk everything to save the covens.

Going on a date has never been harder.

Wicked Sense is a quirky, funny and at times suspenseful book. The plot, while very predictable was enjoyable to read. The best part of the book to me was the character development which I thought really captured the teenage brain. The chapters bounce back and forth from Drakes point of view to Skye's. I did like that deep insight into these two main characters.

The story is set in Seattle at Greenwood High School. Skye is a witch who has been sent to the school from her coven in London, England. She is to use her extraordinary charm, the gift of sight, to locate the Singularity ~ most powerful witch to ever come into her powers. Skye's assignment is to locate this new witch without breaking the Veil, which is the secrecy of the Sisterhood of witches.

Even though Skye is suppose to stay low key, her first day on campus she draws the attention of Drake who is a lovable but self-deprecating hottie at the school. She unfortunately is also confronted by Jane, a rogue violent witch that she, unwillingly and unknowingly, shared her ex-boyfriend (Connor) with and who seems to have it out for Skye.

Now Skye is drawn to Drake and she likes his innocent charm which is vastly different from her former boyfriend Connor, but it seems Connor and Skye have unfinished business. Connor just happens to be, the unusual and atypical male witch, who happens to be in charge of the Seattle area of Sisterhood and the search for the Singularity that Skye is assigned.

Drake, though witty and charismatic, comes with his own set of problems in the form of a dysfunctional family. His mother left the family years prior and now that his sister Mona is reaching the very turbulent teenage years Drake and his father don't know how to deal with all her changes.

As Drake and Skye's relationship develops he slowly figures out that Skye isn't your average girl. With bizarre accidents and nearly life threatening situations tripping up their romance Drake soon discovers the secret of the Veil. But, like the great boyfriend that he turns out to be, Drake helps Skye in her peculiar mission. Its a good thing to because maybe the Singularity is closer to Drake then he thinks.

  1. This sounds like a good read. I've been in the mood for a bit of quirky.
