Summary: (from goodreads) Gwen’s life has been a rollercoaster since she discovered she was the Ruby, the final member of the secret time-traveling Circle of Twelve. In between searching through history for the other time-travelers and asking for a bit of their blood (gross!), she’s been trying to figure out what all the mysteries and prophecies surrounding the Circle really mean.

At least Gwen has plenty of help. Her best friend Lesley follows every lead diligently on the Internet. James the ghost teaches Gwen how to fit in at an eighteenth century party. And Xemerius, the gargoyle demon who has been following Gwen since he caught her kissing Gideon in a church, offers advice on everything. Oh, yes. And of course there is Gideon, the Diamond. One minute he’s very warm indeed; the next he’s freezing cold. Gwen’s not sure what’s going on there, but she’s pretty much destined to find out.

Sapphire Blue is the second book in The Ruby Red Trilogy. Unfortunately, I didn't get to read the first book, Ruby Red, before reading this one, so I felt a little lost. This book shouldn't be read as a standalone. With that being said, I really did enjoy it. Ms. Gier really came up with an amazing story involving time travel, romance and paranormal.

Gwen is a time traveler and she isn't the only one. There is this society that are in charge of people like Gwen, which apparently are only a few that time travel. They are constantly going back and forth to different time periods. Now Gwen has a mission and is totally unprepared. No one knew that she had the time traveler gene so no one prepared her for this life style. Her cousin was the one everyone thought was going to travel so she had all the training. She could go back 200 years and know exactly what was happening in the world then and also know how to dress, act and speak. Something that Gwen is completely clueless on. So now, she is getting trained and wow, those dance classes are hilarious! Her love interest is Gideon, and boy did he annoy me. Sometimes he was all into her and then other, not so much. I wanted to smack him on the back side of his head and tell him "cut it out!" LOL The one character that I totally fell in love with was the gargoyle/demon/ghost, Xemerius. He always had something funny to say. Plus, he was Gwen's little sidekick and eyes whenever she wasn't around. The book is definitely full of mystery and suspense and you will be asking "what's going to happen next?"

Sapphire Blue was a great read, but like I said before, make sure you read Ruby Red first. I am considering reading Ruby Red just so I can get a better understanding to the series. Plus, I am really looking forward to reading the next book. I totally recommend this series.
