Summary: (from goodreads) BEWARE THE GODS AND THEIR HORRORS.

Owen and Lilly have escaped Camp Eden, but the next step on their journey to find Atlantis and protect it from Paul and Project Elysium involves crossing the perilous wastelands of a wrecked planet. And unlike in EdenWest, where bloody truths were kept hidden beneath the surface, out here the horrors live bright beneath the poisonous sun.

With treachery at every turn, Owen has no choice but to bring his wounded clan to the dark shores of Desenna, a city built from the ashes of EdenSouth. Desenna's blood-soaked walls may hold the key to Owen's journey in the form of the third Atlantean as well as a deeper understanding of the true purpose of the Three, but there are also secrets lurking in the shadows, waiting to be unleashed, and once they rise, there may be no escape.

Filled with action, mind-bending twists, and powerful scenes of emotional and physical sacrifice, THE DARK SHORE takes readers on a journey to a question so great, even the gods have trouble answering it: What would you be willing to do, to save humanity from itself?

Book two in a surprisingly good series continues the intrigue and adds to a very deep story. Kevin Emerson creates a novel that surpasses the prequel and takes the world he created to new heights. The twists continue to confound while the characters become more relatable. Emerson also uses great writing to help convey his story to the reader. The pace of the Dark Shore is fairly good although there are a few dry moments in the book. Never the less, the majority of the novel grips you till you get to the next page.

Now in book two we find Owen, Lily, and Leech on the run just beginning their journey. On their journey they face tumultuous obstacles and face surprises that change their entire perspective of the world. A unique plot helps this book remain fresh and sets up for a fantastic climax. So while The Dark Shore does have its moments as mentioned earlier, the exhilarating ones out weigh by far, making it a great read.

  1. I love this cover and the premise sounds awesome! I've never heard of it though and should probably start with the first book! :) Thanks for the review!
