The thrilling finale to the New York Times bestselling Young Elites series from “hit factory” Marie Lu.

There was once a time when darkness shrouded the world, and the darkness had a queen.

Adelina Amouteru is done suffering. She’s turned her back on those who have betrayed her and achieved the ultimate revenge: victory. Her reign as the White Wolf has been a triumphant one, but with each conquest her cruelty only grows. The darkness within her has begun to spiral out of control, threatening to destroy all that she’s achieved.

Adelina’s forced to revisit old wounds when a new danger appears, putting not only Adelina at risk, but every Elite and the very world they live in. In order to save herself and preserve her empire, Adelina and her Roses must join the Daggers on a perilous quest—though this uneasy alliance may prove to be the real danger.

Bestselling author Marie Lu concludes Adelina's story with this haunting and hypnotizing final installment to the Young Elites series.

This is the first book of this series that I decided to listen as an audibook, okay, it was offered. Let me tell you, it was wonderful! I enjoyed the audiobook so much that I need to listen to the first two books as audio. Lannon Killea and Carla Corvo are great in capturing these characters. But most of all I loved how Carla embraced Adelina's ruthless and made her as amazing as I've imagined her.

From the very beginning of this series, Adelina has been a favorite character. She is so fierce! She embraces her inner badass and has no care of what people think of her. She knows what she wants and has no problem in obtaining it. She may be going mad with her powers but you can tell she is working so hard in getting it under control. In The Midnight Star, Adelina tries to control her powers but sometimes things aren't so easy. And even though I tried to prepare myself for the worst, the ending hit me hard and left me open-mouthed.

Marie Lu is an exceptional writer. Her writing is packed with actions but with The Midnight Star she did the unthinkable. This story is so-so sad, heartbreaking, yet beautiful. The love of family and the admiration of friends is much more important than anything, even in this fantasy world. As I listened to the ending, my heart shattered to pieces. However, The Midnight Star is easily my favorite of this trilogy because it focuses on choices and sacrifices.

Overall, this was such an incredible audibook. As this is the final book of this series, I will not tell you more. All you need to know is the story is so powerful and beautiful and simply stunning. If you don't have time to read it, trust me, the audibook will do justice to this amazing story.

  1. Great review! I'm really excited for this one. I actually listened to the first book on audio and the production was excellent - I couldn't help but hear it when I read book two. :)
