Eleven years ago, Stella and Jeanie disappeared. Stella came back. Jeanie never did.

Stella believes remembering what happened to Jeanie will save her. It won’t.

First things first, we need to discuss this cover because I was fully convinced I was going to have nightmares about a girl in a tree. With that being said, this book should definitely be on your fall tbr, perfect Halloween read.  Stella and Jeanie both disappeared eleven years ago, but only Stella returned, with no clues as to what happened to Jeanie and with Stella not remembering a thing it became a cold case. Then when a young girl is found dead in the cemetery Stella is determined to remember what happened that day eleven years ago, to finally get resolution for Jeanie. Sometimes the answers you seek to find are better off laid to rest.

When we first meet Stella she wasn’t that much of a likable character for me, eventually, like most unlikeable characters, she began to evolve, right her wrongs. She seemed a little too stuck-up and her friends were far too concerned with their popularity and they took no prisoners when it came to climbing the social ladder. With character likability aside, I was completely lost in the story and the mystery of Jeanie’s disappearance and the recent murders that happened while our story unfolds. Like any story when you start to unfold the truth you learn things you wish you hadn’t, get scared of things you shouldn’t and find out monsters are scarier when they’re real.

“If you look for monsters, you’ll find them.”

 Though I personally thought there were some slow times in The Creeping, I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves creepy covers and uncovering the monsters that hide under your bed. Add The Creeping to your Fall TBR, save it for Halloween, and let the monsters come out and play!
