We're Going to #MegaConOrlando!

Another year, another MegaCon! And we are going once more! I honestly live to go to cons for they bring me so much joy! Chris Hardwick once said, "If the world was more like comic con, it would be a much better place" -and I couldn't agree more! I am very excited to be going back to one of my favorite cons and getting to see some what I know will be great panels, incredible cosplays, and all the art in the artist alley.

This year MegaCon Orlando does not disappoint! They are going ALL out with the celebrities they are bringing in. If you are a geek/nerd (now considered "fan of pop culture") and fangirl/boy, then get ready to check out this lineup because it is going to give you a nerdgasm, guaranteed!

Let's start with the fact that they're bringing one of the biggest stars of 2019:

Zacahary Levi, aka Shazam, himself! Of course I already bought my photo op ticket with him and I am oh-so-excited to get to see him again in person and this time get a picture with him. I know I will walk out of there with an engagement ring and announcing our wedding. I kid! But, seriously speaking, I really am excited to go to his panel and take a picture with him. I've been a Zach Levi fan for many years now because of his charity work and because of how down to earth and cool he is.

Next up is David Tennant! Who doesn't love DT? He's the most beloved Doctor, the best Detective Inspector, a total baddie in both the Harry Potter and Marvel (Jessica Jones) worlds, and now he's also the voice of Scrooge McDuck! Let's not forget he is one of the sweetest, nicest, kindest, most humblest celebs you'll ever meet. I had the absolute honor to meet him and take a pic with him last year (I went all the way from Miami to Denver just to meet him!), so I will not be taking another one with him, but I absolutely look forward to another panel with him. Maybe, just maybe I'll do another pic with him ;)

Billie Piper is a very beloved actress because she portrayed probably the most beloved companion in all of Doctor Who history: Rose Tyler. It's been many years since she's played Rose, she's been in other shows and movies, and she is still being asked questions about her time as the Doctor's companion. I've also seen her before and she really is as charming and sweet as you'd imagine. Can't wait to see her again!

I have lost count how many times I've seen John Barrowman in a con: I've been to his panels, have more than one photo op with him, and once I even ran into him walking around the con looking around in the artist alley. Yet, I can never tire of seeing him because he is an absolute blast! His panels are rated PG-13 and he usually comes out in heels and sings and dances and sparkles. I can't wait to see what he has in store for us this time!

If you know me, you know Harry Potter is my #1 fandom, so anything that is related to this fandom, I love. I was very excited when they announced that Dan Fogler was also coming to MegaCon Orlando because I can't wait to hear what he has to say about his experience in working in the franchise and of being the only muggle (or "non-maj") of the story.

Tyler Hoechlin is a super hottie whom I have had the pleasure of meeting before while doing an interview for Once Upon a Twilight. He was promoting a movie he was in called "Everybody Wants Some!!" and I can assure you he was an absolute delight.

A complete gentleman, funny, sweet, smart, and just even more gorgeous in person. I doubt he remembers me (this was in 2016!), but I sure look forward to seeing him again ;)

I've been wanting to meet this giant, delicious man for a while now. I was very sad to see Luke Cage being canceled (Netflix, you failed!) because I really liked it and where it was going. I especially like Mike Colter, who portrays the title character and who is so yummy! This guy I do want to get a pic with because I've been wanting one since he first started going to cons! I really can't wait for him to carry me -or something like that!

Lastly, but certainly NOT least...the most amazing part for us old school nerds:

The cast of Back to the Future will be there!!! They are having a very special event in which you can meet the cast and spend an evening with them. There's also special photo ops with them. I'm a little bummed out there will not be a panel with them, but it's more than understandable and I am just happy they will be around.

There you have it. The people I am most excited to see at this year's MegaCon! The fangirl in me is squeeing like crazy and clapping from excitement. I really cannot wait to be back in MegaCon!

Orlando #MegaCon2016 Recap: Day 3, Sunday

Sunday is traditionally the slowest day of any con (at the San Diego Comic Con, by noon on Sunday, all vendors start picking up already!), so Tairina and I took advantage of the fact that there weren’t many panels today to finally be able to enjoy the vendors and the exhibits.

But, not before getting the only other photo op we splurged on:

With the amazing and best hugger in the world: John Barrowman! It was the best squeeze ever, as you can see from my face (insert big smile emoticon here).

Next up we went walking around and seeing some of the art and exhibits they had there! So many cool things, not enough money, as usual.

And we concluded our day (before driving 4 hours back to Miami) by attending the Tom Felton panel.

Being in the presence of yet another Harry Potter actor was the best, most epic way for me to finish this amazing con. Tom told us so many awesome stories about being on set, he made us laugh and swoon all while being super sweet and humble. He even got up and gave a fan a hug when she started to cry because she told him that her BFF was recently diagnosed with cancer and couldn’t attend the con.

Thank you MegaCon Orlando for an amazing Memorial Day weekend! Best yet: they announced during this con that they now will be in Tampa for the weekend of October 28th-30th with none other than DAVID TENNANT! You read right! The most beloved Doctor is coming to Florida, so start saving and planning to go because (to make it even better) Billie Piper will be joining him there too! She told us at the panel on Friday! See you all then!

Orlando #MegaCon2016 Recap: Day 1, Friday

MegaCon! Wow! What an amazing experience it was! I was incredibly excited to go cover this con for Once Upon a Twilight, but being there was just something else entirely! It was HUGE and filled with amazing art displays, cosplayers, exhibits, and celebrities I most likely would’ve never ever seen otherwise (so you know the fangirl side of me was squeeing non-stop!). I am so grateful to have been given the chance to cover this con, and here I share my experience with you all...

 MegaCon actually started on Thursday May 26^th, but being from Miami (a 4 hour drive away from Orlando, where it was taking place) and having to work that day until 3 pm, made it impossible for us (Tairina, the photographer, and I) to get there on time to see the con. So, our first day was really Friday, which was also the first day of geeky mayhem and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I had printed out the schedule for the weekend ahead of time and both Tairina and I had highlighted all the panels we wanted to see (and cover for you guys), so we had our whole day planned. Our very first panel was of James and Oliver Phelps, aka as Fred and George Weasley from the Harry Potter movie franchise. As hard core Potterheads, we were incredibly excited about this being our first panel, and boy we were NOT disappointed!!!

They were so awesome, sweet, humble, and funny.

They told us stories of all the pranks they pulled on set (and off), of their future projects, and how much they love doing cons.

 After the Phelp Twins, we had Tom Payne’s panel. If you don’t know who that is, he plays “Jesus” in The Walking Dead series. Both Tairina and myself are very into that series (we watch it loyally every Sunday when it is on) and so, being able to see at least one of the cast members in person, was super for us. Unfortunately we missed part of his panel due to it clashing with the end of the Phelp twins’ one, so we had to sit very far and didn’t get to catch much of what he said. I do remember him saying, though, that everyone on set is very nice and that it’s like a big family he was welcomed into.

After Tom’s panel, we had a quick lunch and then it was over to attend the panel of the legendary Christopher Lloyd!

He was in the biggest auditorium they had for panels at the con and it was filled to the brim. Mr. Lloyd is very loved and he was very lovely –and, of course, funny! It was an honor to have been in the same room as him, even if from afar, because he is a living legend! He has done so many iconic characters throughout his career: Uncle Fester in the “Addams Family” movies, Judge Doom in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”, and, of course his most iconic character of all: “Doc” in the classic “Back to the Future” series.

He truly was a lot of fun and even did a short video requested by a fan saying one of his lines from Back to the Future!

Our day filled with panels concluded with one of the most epic ones of them all (just because we are HUGE Whovians): Billie Piper’s! We were so incredibly excited to be in this panel (and this time we got there way ahead of time and got 2^nd row seats!) because we love Billie. I personally have only seen her as Rose Tyler, but Tairina has seen her in both Doctor Who and Penny Dreadful, so her smile was from ear to ear!

Billie was sweet, funny, fun, and just plain awesome!

She answered every question with class and added humor as much as she could. She would even tell the fans it was an honor for her to speak to them! Swoon!

And that concludes our first day at MegaCon 2016! There were many, many more panels going on, but we simply couldn’t cover them all. It was just impossible. We wish we could split ourselves into multiple pieces so we could have attended them all, but we hope you are happy with the ones we attended and the pics.

Where is Magic City Comic Con?

The Miami Airport Convention Center (MACC) and Doubletree Miami Airport Convention Center Hotel, 711 NW 72nd Ave, Miami FL 33126. The Convention Center is less than 8 miles away from the Miami Airport, and Magic City Comic Con provides free shuttles between the designated Magic City Comic Con host hotels and the convention center.

As you all know Leydy and I are HUGE Doctor Who fans so when we heard Jenna Coleman, Billie Piper and Peter Davison were coming to Magic City Comic Con we diffidently did a happy dance. I can say without a doubt in my mind that I will be the first person in line to meet Billie Piper. I miss Rose so much and still get all the feels from just looking of pictures of her and the Doctor. 

We have to add some action into the mix and when you think action your brain automatically goes to Marvel. You can't go wrong with Ming-Na Wen you have to admit she is a pretty kick-ass Agent May in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. You may know Kelly Hu as Lady Deathstrike in X-Men 2 or China White on CW’s Arrow, maybe The Sorceress in The Scorpion King? Either way I know not to mess with her! Tim Rose is an actor and puppeteer, best known for playing the role of Admiral Ackbar in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, and upcoming in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. 

Game of Thrones may night be back until next April, but at least getting to meet Kristian Nairn (Hodor) and Finn Jones (Ser Loras Tyrell) should hold you over until the new season starts. ;)
Maybe you can even try to bribe them into telling you what the new season might bring. 

This ones for all my The Rocky Horror Picture Show fans: Barry “Brad” Bostwick, Patricia “Magenta” Quinn, and Nell “Columbia” Campbell, will be appearing all weekend long at Magic City Comic Con. Don’t miss the main event on Saturday night as the trio introduce a special 40th Anniversary Shadow Cast Screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show!
