Jae Hwa Lee has destroyed Haemosu, the dangerous demi-god that held her ancestors captive, and now she’s ready to forget about immortals and move on with her life. Anyone that knows me well knows I am hard to please when it comes to high fantasy. This is a genre I am not really familiar to and in order to get my attention it has to WOW me. Part of goal this year, was to be open this genre and when the opportunity emerge to reviewed the first of this series, I jumped blindly to the unknown. The Gilded series is nothing I’ve ever read before. This urban high fantasy series is not only filled with history but so many actions. I am glad I decided to give it a try.
Silvern begins right where Gilded left off. Fighting off and winning against an ancient god, Jae Hwa believed she won the war against the Spirit World. Little did she know, this was just the beginning. With the strength and determination she has proven to many, now all eyes are on her. Including Kud, a god (I should say another god). He now wants her to serve him… whether she agrees or not.
Right from the start, Silvern is filled with action. Black belt or not, fighting an evil spirit is no easy task. Once again, Jae proves of what she is capable of doing. Not only did she have to fight many evil but she had to use her intelligence to acquire what the cruel god Kud wanted – the orb of the White Tiger. Needless to say, Jae is clever enough to do what is asked of her even if she is betrayed.
I really like Jae. She is willing to do the impossible to keep those she loves safe. Though her sacrifices aren’t enough in the Spirit World, now she must come up with a solution to close this door. Though it may be impossible, I know she will be able to come up with a solution.
Silvern is unique and entertaining. You don’t get a break from action. Left to right something is happening and you cannot let your guard down with this series. Filled with betrayal, mystery and adventure, Silvern is an exceptional sequel.
