Book Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Insurgent
Divergent #2
Author: Veronica Roth
Reading Level: YA
Genre: Dystopian
Released: May 1st 2012
Review Source: Purchased
Available: Amazon

Summary: (from goodreads) One choice can transform you--or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves--and herself--while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable--and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

"New York Times" bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian "Divergent" series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

I have been waiting for this book for over a year and the wait was oh so worth it. Veronica delivered another homerun with Insurgent. I don’t know how she does it, but when I read Divergent and Insurgent, I can actually see the world Veronica has created for us. She is simply amazing.

Insurgent picks up right where Divergent left off. Now let me warn you, if you haven't read Divergent, my review might spoil it for you. I will try to keep most things out, but it would be hard to give a proper review without mentioning certain things. Plus, this just gives you a reason to go and buy the first book, Divergent. So on to my review. Tris, Four and their group are running for their lives after nearly escaping death. Literally. The structured world that they once knew is now in chaos and most of the people they knew and were close to, are dead. But things get worse, much worse. The few people they thought they could trust, have turned on them. Now, in a world where everything is falling apart, Tris and Four have to trust one another more than ever. Especially when everyone around them are being manipulated.

Just when you think there is nothing more that can happen, Veronica throws us a huge curve ball. The ending was a huge cliffhanger. I mean HUGE! Book 3 is going to be insane! I hope you all are ready for it.
