HARPERAUDIO TO PUBLISH DARK CAROUSEL, A VINYL-FIRST AUDIOBOOK BY JOE HILL

New York, NY (January 19, 2018)—HarperAudio, the audio imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, will publish Dark Carousel, a “vinyl-first” audiobook by New York Times bestselling author Joe Hill on April 20, 2018. With a release timed to coincide with Record Store Day on April 21Dark Carousel is narrated by television and film actor Nate Corddry and features a cover of “Wild Horses” by The Rolling Stones, recorded expressly for the record by Matthew Ryan.

The package features original artwork, two colorful “splattered” records, and a full-length download of the Dark Carousel audiobook. In cooperation with Think Indie, HarperAudio and vinyl label Wax announced a limited first printing of 2,500 copies.

Today, Entertainment Weekly revealed the cover of Dark Carousel along with an exclusive excerpt from the audiobook: http://bit.ly/2CvJzCR

Says author Joe Hill, “My hard rockin’ fantasies are pretty well documented at this point — the hero of my first novel was, after all, a world-famous heavy metal rocker. I’ve always wanted to have my own LP, and the idea that one of my stories is being released as an audiobook on vinyl blows my Beatles-quoting, Stones-fixated, Zeppelin-obsessed mind. Even better, I’m on the record with Matthew Ryan, a great American rocknrolla. His cover of “Wild Horses” is the best version of the song since the original. I’m so excited for readers and listeners to drop the needle on this story and Matt’s song."

Written about a balmy summer night in 1994. Dark Carousel is the tale of four teenagers out for an evening of fun on the boardwalk who take a ride on the “Wild Wheel” – an antique carousel with a shadowy past – and learn too late that decisions made in an instant can have deadly consequences. What begins as a night of innocent end-of-summer revelry, young love, and (a few too many) beers among friends soon descends into chaos, as the ancient carousel’s parade of beasts comes chillingly to life to deliver the ultimate judgment for their misdeeds.

HarperAudio plans to continue its partnership with Wax by publishing a vinyl edition of the award-winning full cast recording of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events #1, The Bad Beginning featuring Tim Curry on October 23, 2018.

Austin Butler Performs Role of Akos in 'Carve the Mark' Audiobook!

Did you know that actor Austin Butler from The Shannara Chronicles, Switched at Birth, Carrie Diaries performed the role Akos in Veronica Roth's new book Carve the Mark audiobook?

Well now you do, and here is a video that HarperAudio shared on their YouTube channel recently.

Carve the Mark
Written by Veronica Roth

Fans of Star Wars and Divergent will revel in internationally bestselling author Veronica Roth’s stunning new science-fiction fantasy series.

On a planet where violence and vengeance rule, in a galaxy where some are favored by fate, everyone develops a currentgift, a unique power meant to shape the future. While most benefit from their currentgifts, Akos and Cyra do not—their gifts make them vulnerable to others’ control. Can they reclaim their gifts, their fates, and their lives, and reset the balance of power in this world?

Cyra is the sister of the brutal tyrant who rules the Shotet people. Cyra’s currentgift gives her pain and power—something her brother exploits, using her to torture his enemies. But Cyra is much more than just a blade in her brother’s hand: she is resilient, quick on her feet, and smarter than he knows.

Akos is from the peace-loving nation of Thuvhe, and his loyalty to his family is limitless. Though protected by his unusual currentgift, once Akos and his brother are captured by enemy Shotet soldiers, Akos is desperate to get his brother out alive—no matter what the cost. When Akos is thrust into Cyra’s world, the enmity between their countries and families seems insurmountable. They must decide to help each other to survive—or to destroy one another.

Audiobook Review: Redemption by Debra Driza

Redemption
MILA 2.0 #4
Author: Debra Driza
Narrator: Tara Sands
Reading Level: Young Adult
Genre: Science Fiction
Released: April 26th 2016
Publisher: HarperAudio

Mila has been running for her life for so long. But there might be nowhere left for her to go. Especially now that she’s an incredible danger to herself and anyone who dares get close to her.

That’s why Mila has gone into hiding with friend and tech expert Lucas. She can’t take the risk of hurting people worse than the way she hurt Hunter: the boy she’ll always love, the boy who might never forgive her for what she’s done.

But then Mila discovers that General Holland—her ultimate enemy—has plans that are an even bigger threat to humanity than she is. His quest to reclaim Mila is only part of a larger mysterious endgame that will put people’s lives at stake. Mila must make a choice: either push aside her fears and fight him with everything she’s got…or turn her back on the world forever.

If you are not familiar with Mila 2.0 series, then let me give you a very quick recap. Mila is a teenage girl that was created to be a weapon. In the last book, we come to learn that she has a bomb inside her and it will soon go off at any moment. The issue is that she doesn’t know when but she will do the impossible to learn more about her creator and Sarah, the girl she was designed to look alike. If you’re like me and enjoy anything related to technology, even A.I., then you will enjoy Mila 2.0 series.

As for Redemption, the book starts right where it left off. Mila is in the mountains of Montana with Lucas and his brother Tim. They are on the mission to learn more about Sarah and they do end up finding out more information. However, to get at the bottom of this mission, they will need to go undercover and visit the school Sarah attended. Things are going well but there are a betrayal and then within a blink of eye things go chaotic. The ending was interesting but a bit disappointing. If you read Allegiant then you will understand. However, this one was a bit more understanding than Allegiant. As of today, any ending is better than Allegiant.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed this series. I love Mila – even though she an android, she has more feelings than some human beings. She is daring and caring but always had the willingness to help others. Yet the ending is left for room for more. There isn’t much explanation or character development for most of the characters. And fans are left off in the air with many questions left unanswered. I think Debra rushed the ending and could’ve given us more information and answered things from the previous book. I wish for more but nevertheless, enjoyed the series.

Book Review: Boomerang by Noelle August

Boomerang
Boomerang #1
Author: Noelle August
Reading Level: New Adult
Genre: Romance
Released: July 8th 2014

The first book in a sensational New Adult trilogy from Noelle August

Welcome to Boomerang.com, the dating site for the millennial gen with its no-fuss, no-commitments matchups, and where work is steamier than any random hook-up

Mia Galliano is an aspiring filmmaker. Ethan Vance has just played his last game as a collegiate soccer star. They’re sharp, hungry for success, and they share a secret.

Last night, Ethan and Mia met at a bar, and, well . . . one thing led to another, which led to them waking up the next morning—together. Things turned awkward in a hurry when they found themselves sharing a post hookup taxi . . . to the same place: Boomerang headquarters.

What began as a powerful connection between them is treated to a cold shower courtesy of two major complications. First, Boomerang has a strict policy against co-worker dating. And second, they’re now competitors for only one job at the end of summer.

As their internships come to an end, will they manage to keep their eyes on the future and their hands off each other, or will the pull of attraction put them right back where they started?

Boomerang is the first installment of the Boomerang trilogy starring the beautiful Ethan Vance and Mia Galliano. Mia and Ethan start their relationship a bit different than most couples. Mia wakes up in a hazy fog lying next to a pretty rocking body. So what we assume is these two had a very drunk one night stand which only stands to get a bit more awkward, seeing as they both turn out to have an internship at the same company, Boomerang. After their awkward cab ride to Boomerang Mia and Ethan find out that they are both indeed in for the same internship which guarantees only one job at the end. There’s also just one rule the company has, no dating in the office.

I adored this book so much, such a great summer read. With the dual point of views throughout this book you get to see how much these two are truly lusting for one another, but they both want and need the job so they’re trying their hardest to stay at arm’s reach. Boomerang is also a website designed for people who are not looking for a relationship but just maybe a hook up, they take the stress out of dating and just get to the point. So while these two are sitting here having inner battles over one another, I’m over here getting just as aggravated that these two won’t just give in! But with Mia needing this job to jump start her career as a film maker and Ethan needing the job to start paying off bills and student loans and finally get to where he wants to be in life I completely agree with their fighting off their feelings for one another.

Boomerang is a very fun New Adult book that is a perfect read for this summer (any season really). I loved the characters brought into the story and cannot wait for Adam’s (the head honcho for Boomerang) story in the second installment of the Boomerang Trilogy.
