But even with a new, loving family, he still finds himself haunted by the memories of his old life. The only true breath of fresh air is when he’s with his best friend, Lyric Scott.

Excerpt

When he grows silent again, I crack an eyelid open. He’s dazing off over my shoulder with undiluted pain in his eyes. The realness of him causes my heart to stutter, and my fingers yearn to jot down unwritten words.
God, what has he been through to create such a look?
When his focus lands back on me, his eyes burn fiercely, as if he’s terrified out of his damn mind “Shut your eyes,” he whispers, almost horrified.
I do as he says without question, trusting him completely, even though his intensity is enough to make the calmest person in the world feel disconcerted.
He sticks the earbud in my ear and the gloomy, unhurried beat of Radiohead’s “How To Disappear Completely” soaks through my wounded soul.
“You picked the perfect song,” I mutter as the music engulfs me. “This is exactly what I—”
His lips brush mine, stealing the words right from my mouth. My breath catches in my throat and my first instinct is to pull away. But I don’t want to pull away. I want to stay. Let him erase that last few hours from my mind.
I keep my eyes shut, too afraid to open them as his lips timidly start to move against mine. Just a whisper of a graze. A heart-stopping brush. A soul-drowning taste. He does it again and again, taking his time, erasing all the ickiness from tonight. As I absorb each soft graze, his tongue slowly follows, slipping into my mouth. I gasp, but still don’t open my eyes. I barely move. Can hardly think. And when he pulls back, gently biting at my bottom lip, I stop breathing all together.
That burn songs promise.
Blazes in me.
Hot and scorching.
So sweltering and mind-numbing.
I feel it in my veins.
Liquid fire.
Passion.
Driving me insane.
And the bar set so high.
Ayden has soared over.
Past the heavens.
And captured me eternally.
“Go to sleep, Lyric,” he whispers, his breathing ragged.
I nod, still terrified to open my eyes. Terrified I’ll lose this moment.
A moment I know I’ll be able to fill pages and pages with the most powerful lyrics I’ve ever written. All about him and that kiss.

Her marriage is amazing. But when she receives some surprising news, her world is turned upside down.

That is until he learns Ella has a secret, one that makes his career choice seem hugely insignificant.

Excerpt

A slow breath eases from his lips as his gaze collides with mine. “Sorry.
I’m being a downer, aren’t I?” He leans toward me, tucking a strand of hair
behind my ear. “That isn’t fair to you after you flew across the country to
see me.”

“Micha, you should know by now”—I press my lips together, trying not to
laugh as I prepare to quote a line from one of his songs—“that I would
travel to hell and back just to be with you.”

“Ha, ha,” he says playfully, sticking out his tongue. “You wound my heart,
Ella May. I wrote those lyrics for you and you mock me with them.”

“I’m not mocking, just having fun—”

He cuts me off as he nips at my bottom lip, eliciting a soul-bearing groan
from me. He slowly starts unbuttoning my shirt, picking up the pace the
farther down he gets until he finally becomes so impatient he rips the
fabric off.

“I miss your kisses the most.” I willingly lean against the piano as he
unfastens my bra and urges me back.

He quickly stands up to tug his shirt over his head and then places an arm
on each side of me as his body hovers over mine. “I miss everything the
most,” he says before he kisses me. “All the fucking time. I swear to God, I
need to see you more.”

My legs fasten around his waist as the ivory keys dig into my flesh. My
fingers trace the outlines of his muscular stomach, the inscription of his
tattoos, feeling his heart slamming erratically against his chest.

Excitement bursts to the surface when he pushes back to undo the button on
my jeans.

“Micha, wait.” I pant. “Are we really going to do this?”

“Do what?” He teases me with a cock of his brow as he gradually unzips my
jeans.

I kick off my shoes while I gasp for air. “Have sex on a piano.”

He pulls my jeans and panties off, his passionate gaze skimming every inch
of my flesh, stifling my eager body with overpowering heat.

“You sound so excited about the idea,” he says as I reach for the top of his
pants and unflick the button.

“I’ll take it wherever I can get it.” I sit up and yank his jeans down.
“Besides, we can add it to our growing list of strange places we’ve had sex.
I think this one might earn the number three spot, right below backstage at
a concert, wrapped in the curtain.”

Instead of smiling, his happiness falters. “I promise I’m going to find a
way to change all this, pretty girl. You deserve so much better than this.”

Release Day Blitz: The Prelude of Ella and Micha | Jessica Sorensen | Excerpt | Giveaway

Excerpt

As we pull our hands away, I grow nervous because now I have to actually kiss him. And not just kiss him, but kiss my first guy ever.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” I double check, wiping my palm on my jeans. “Because I don’t know what I’m doing.”

“I’ll show you.” He’s already leaning in, his intense aqua eyes zeroed in on my lips.

My heart dances like a crazy person in my chest, and I feel like I’m going to throw up. “Micha, I …” I trail off, sucking in a huge breath as his lips touch mine. My fingers tense around the chains and my whole body stiffens while I try to figure out what on earth I’m supposed to be doing. Clearly not just sitting here, frozen.

“Relax,” Micha whispers, putting a small bit of space between our lips.

Thinking the kiss is over, I let out a quiet, relieved breath. But the relief is short lived because, a microsecond later, his head dips forward and his lips brush against mine again. Only, this time, it’s different. This time, he slips his tongue into my mouth.

Oh, my God, his tongue is in my mouth.

Micha Scott’s tongue is in my mouth.

And I just touched my tongue to his.

Before I can even register what’s happening, we’re kissing. And I mean full on French-kissing. It goes on for what feels like minutes, our knees knocking against each other as Micha plays with my hair and continues to kiss me. Unfamiliar feelings prickle inside me, ones I’m pretty sure I’ve never felt before, and that terrifies the living daylights out of me. They make me feel so...

Out of control.

And Micha is supposed to be my stability.

I’m about to pull away because I can’t take the terror hounding inside me anymore when a loud crash echoes from nearby and we both jerk apart, wide-eyed and gasping for air. My cheeks start to burn and even Micha appears embarrassed, which has never happened before—at least, from what I’ve seen.

Seconds later, reality crashes over me.

Oh, my God, I just kissed my best friend.

Excerpt

As if I’ve lost my mind, I wet my lips with my tongue, a move I haven’t done in years. A slow smile curves at his lips.

“You did that on purpose,” he murmurs while eyeing my mouth and moistening his lips with his tongue.

“No I didn’t.” I suck my bottom lip into my mouth.

What the hell am I doing?

Stop leaning in Avery.

But we move like magnets. He leans in a little. I lean in a little. Me. Him. Me. Him. There’s hardly any space left between us. I can feel the warmth of his breath. Smell the delicious scent of his cologne. He’s still holding the cigarette and smoke circles around us mixing with the intensity of the moment. Am I going to do this? Let my wall down for another guy?

No.

Yes.

No.

A rule-breaker with a fiery attitude, Ella always wore her heart on her sleeve. Then she left everything behind to go to college, where she transformed into someone who follows the rules, keeps everything together, and hides all her problems. Now it's summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home. But once there, Ella fears that everything she's worked so hard to bury might resurface-especially with Micha living right next door.

Smart, sexy, and confident, Micha can get under Ella's skin like no one else. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. If he tries to tempt the old Ella to return, he will be impossible to resist. But what Ella doesn't realize is that when she left, she took a piece of Micha's heart with her. Now he's determined to win back the girl he lost, no matter what it takes.

One of the reasons why I bought this book, besides being on the NYT Bestseller, is the title: The Secret of Ella and Micha. I love the mystery of the title so I decided to read.

Ella and Micha have been best friends since childhood; unfortunately they never had the opportunity to become more. They both come from broken homes but one tragic night makes Ella leave without any explanations. Devastated from her departure, Micha puts his life on hold and decides to search for her whereabouts. .

Ella used to be a wild-child, rule-breaker and very spontaneous. She left her old life behind, leaving to college with a new self-preserve attitude. With nowhere to go during her summer break, she doesn’t have any options but to return home. With her sudden reappearance, Micha, the sexy and confident neighbor, is determined to bring his old best-friend back.

I truly enjoyed reading this book. I found myself loving the characters; they each had something to give. I loved their friendship and the real-life scenarios. The story was well built providing us enough information of each character. I cannot wait to read The Forever of Ella and Micha! I am glad I decided to give this book a chance based on the title.

Book Review: The Fallen Star

The Fallen Star
Fallen Star #1
Author: Jessica Sorensen
Pages: 449 Paperback
Reading Level: YA
Published: April 7th 2011
Review Source: Author
Available: Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Goodreads

Summary: (from goodreads) For eighteen year-old Gemma, life has never been normal. Up until recently, she has been incapable of feeling emotion. And when she's around Alex, the gorgeous new guy at school, she can feel electricity that makes her skin buzz. Not to mention the monsters that haunt her nightmares have crossed over into real-life. But with Alex seeming to hate her and secrets popping up everywhere, Gemma's life is turning into a chaotic mess. Things that shouldn't be real suddenly seem to exist. And as her world falls apart, figuring out the secrets of her past becomes a matter of life and death.

I absolutely love the cover of the book. Gemma’s eyes are wickedly gorgeous! LOL What an amazing story The Fallen Star is. Witches, vampires, fortunetellers, faeries, demons and the underworld, what more can a paranormal book lover ask for? Absolutely nothing, because it has everything I love to read about in a book!

Gemma is a unique 18 year old girl who never had any sort of emotions or feelings. All she can remember of her past is that her parents died in a car accident when she was a year old, well she doesn’t know that for a fact, that’s what Marco and Sophia, her cold hearted grandparents, told her. One day, she started having these nightmares of these back creatures with yellow eyes that were set out to kill her. She was terrified because these dreams felt so real. Then one day while at her favorite class, Astronomy, two new students, Alex and Aislen Avery were introduced to the class. Ever since the first day she met Alex, she started having these electrical feelings throughout her body which of course, she had no idea what those feelings were. Gemma also had a feeling that Alex could feel the electricity too, but she just didn’t know how to ask him without him thinking she was crazy. Well crazy is the adventure she will have to face. An adventure filled with lies and secrets and scary looking creatures with yellows eyes that are after her just like in her dreams. Will she find out what really happened to her parents or will the scary yellow eyed creatures get to her first? You just have to read the book to find out. Believe me, you will not be disappointed.

The Fallen Star was an amazing story from beginning to end. But I have to warn you, the ending was a huge cliffhanger and it left me wanting more. It’s a good thing her next book in the series will be out July 31, 2011. I can not wait to read it and find out what happens to Gemma. This is a great first book in the series, so go out and get it. Enjoy!
