Maya Banks delivers once again in the incredible Enforcer series.  She takes you on an amazing journey in Kept!!

The story starts out with the heroine, Haley, trying to pursue her dreams by going to a prestigious school and becoming a musician.  It was her father's last wish for her.  Haley deals with struggle after struggle trying to fulfil this wish.  Her father was scammed by an insurance company leaving Haley without any money.  In walks Silas that is drawn to Haley's innocence immediately.  He desires to protect her above all else.

I was so excited to read this book.  In this book we get to see Silas fight through some personal demons from his horrible childhood.  He is Drake's number 2 and we me him in book 1 and 2 of the Enforcer series.  He never felt worthy of love but Haley finds a way to break down his barriers.  Silas is such a rough, alpha, his rules only type of man and Haley is a sweet, innocent, naive girl.  Silas has an intense need to protect her.  Their chemistry is undeniable!!

I'm rating this book 4 stars because it was a great story.  I was able to read it quickly and it was a very emotional, intense read but I did feel it was very similar to books 1 and 2.  I definitely recommend this sexy book!

Hayley sank further into the heated seat of the luxurious car as they sailed through traffic, and she smiled,

unable to believe her good fortune. How fast things changed and how quickly she’d gone from

desperation and resignation to excitement and optimism about her future.

Tears glittered and clung to her eyelashes.

I’m going to make it, Dad. Just like I promised. I’ve found a place I can afford to rent. I can continue

school like you and Mom wanted. One day you’ll see me playing with a prestigious symphony. This is all

for you, Dad. For all you sacrificed for me. I only wish you were here to see me the first time I play with a

symphony.

A fierce ache besieged her chest and she rubbed, blinking furiously to rid herself of the tears that

burned her eyes. It was hard to accept that her biggest—only—supporter was gone. First her mom, whom

she’d lost when she was but a child, but Hayley still clung to the fleeting memories she had of her mother.

Every time she looked in the mirror she saw her mother’s face. As her father often fondly remarked, she

was the picture of her mother.

It was bad enough to lose one parent. Why did she have to lose both? The only two people she had in

the world?

She leaned forward in the seat when she saw that they were approaching the street where her current

residence was located.

“You can let me off at the corner,” she said to the driver, who hadn’t uttered a single word during the

ride. “I’ll walk from there. It’s not far and the rain has stopped.”

The man glanced in the rearview mirror, obviously staring intently at her, though she couldn’t see his

eyes behind the shades he wore despite the overcast day.

“I would feel better if I dropped you in front of your building,” the man said, surprising her with the

firmness of his statement.

Hayley smiled. “No, it’s okay, truly. I’d like to walk so I can clear my head. It’s been an eventful

morning.”

His lips tightened but he didn’t argue further as he pulled to the corner and glided to a halt. When she

would have opened her door to duck out, he sent her a look of reprimand that froze her in her tracks. He

got out and unhurriedly stepped around the car to open the passenger door not facing the street.

She smiled at him again, ruefully this time, and offered her thanks, squeezing the hand he’d offered

to help her out. To her shock, the staid, somber man’s lips turned into a semblance of a smile, only the

corners slightly tipping up.

“It was my pleasure,” he offered formally before once more returning to the driver’s seat.

Seconds later the car melted away into traffic and Hayley turned to walk the half block to her

apartment, shaking her head at the most unexpected turn of events the day had offered.

Dominated is the sequel to Mastered and we find out that Drake finally finds Evangeline in a run down hotel. Things are different after his hurtful words to Evangeline that caused her to leave him. So at every turn he treats her as if she is glass and about to break. Evangeline is at a place that she wants things to go back to how they were before that one horrible night happened. Things get better but trust will be tested between Drake and Evangeline. It will be a battle and at the end they will either notice if they are meant to be together or separated.

Dominated was a roller coaster ride. Drake goes from lacking that love he first felt to searching for a new spark with Evangeline. It was such a emotional ride. I didn't know whether  he will ever trust Evangeline (vise versa). He was so afraid she will betray him. It was a nice change to the story and I loved how he comes to conclusions that even if she had betrayed him he would still forgive her, no matter what. He realized he cannot live without her and his life is miserable without her. As for Evangeline, it was great reading how she will forgive herself. Knowing there is a man that will love her no matter the circumstance is a great feel. This felt so real as love is indeed a work in process arrangement.

I loved Dominated as much as Mastered! Its such a great sequel and fans should not worry. With a badass boss and woman who will do whatever it takes to satisfied him, this read will have you fanning yourself. Although it contains extremely sexy time, the plot and story was very interesting and very real. There are some sad heart wrenching moments but every love story has its moments until the couple can see that there is full trust between the two. Added with some great long lasting friendships between Evangeline and Drakes, this is a perfect story to fall in love with. A big adopted family of sorts. Trust me, add Mastered to your TBR list and you will enjoy this ride.

“Find her,” Drake said harshly, the nights without sleep evident in his haggard appearance. “This is your only priority, your only job. Find her and bring her back to me.”
He’d gathered his sentinels. The only men in his inner circle, a tight band of men—brothers—his partners in business and the only men he trusted with his life—and Evangeline’s.
The only men he’d allow to see him at his lowest, unguarded. Vulnerable. Nothing mattered to him. Not exposing his weakness. Not allowing his iron control that had maintained him through most of his life to slip. They all knew that Evangeline was . . . special. All important. And they, like him, liked her. Respected her.
And they were all pissed. At him.
“Goddamn it, Drake,” Maddox hissed out. “How could you do it? There had to be another way.”
“There was no other goddamn way and you know it!” Drake barked, fury and helplessness eating him alive, gutting him until there was nothing left but a soulless shell of a man standing helplessly in front of his brothers begging for their help.

When in fact, she was his goddamn world. And she was gone.
He couldn’t blame her. He’d devastated her. Had ripped her to shreds until she was bleeding from the verbal wounds he’d inflicted. And Jesus, his physical treatment of her. No, the only person at fault was himself.
Silas had remained silent, his features carved in stone, but his eyes were a dead giveaway in a man who usually gave away nothing at all.
“She didn’t deserve this,” Silas said in his quiet voice. But then he never had to raise his voice to make his point. When he spoke, others instinctively ceased talking and listened to him. He was a man who commanded authority and respect.
“No, she didn’t,” Drake said hoarsely. “Don’t you think I know that? Do you think a single night goes by that I don’t replay the image of her broken, in utter despair, her tears—goddamn it, her tears—and worse, her fear. Of me. Of her humiliation. Her absolute belief in every insult, every word I hurled her way in an effort to make sure the goddamn Luconis never suspected what she meant to me. I’ll never forget. His tone grew savage, fury radiating from him like a beacon.
“She could be anywhere out there. Alone. Afraid. Her parents haven’t heard from her. And those bitches she called her best friends . . .” He broke off and had to visibly compose himself.
He and Maddox had gone there first only to discover that they hadn’t heard from her either. Except . . . Lana had admitted that Evangeline had called that day, the day she’d planned to visit them. Evangeline has the greatest friends but one night they decide she needs to go to Impulse to face her jerk of an ex-boyfriend. However, things did not go the way as the way she had planned that night. She did run into her ex, but that was just a small part of that night that would forever change her. What I enjoyed most about Mastered is Evangeline is very protective of those she loves and cares about. She'll do anything to protect them. She is a loving character with a caring soul. Drake is different. He had a tough childhood and things are just as they are for him so he keeps himself from getting hurt. Yet, without him realizing it, Evangeline changed him for the better. He turned into a caring person, maybe he didn't let everyone see it, but still his close friends seen the differences. I loved how they made themselves better together.

This book is fantastic! I cannot wait for the second book, Dominated, to come out. I really enjoyed this book and need to know what happens next. Because the way it was left off, was such a cliffhanger. If you are into badass alpha males, with dark secrets, who loves kinky fantasies.... then you will love this book! Its full of ups and downs.

Honor lived her life differently then her parents and 5 siblings. While they all stayed near home to have careers and be near family, Honor wanted to go where most people didn't. She moved to place where she could help people that needed fresh water, supplies, and medical help. The middle East was not a safe area for Westerners but she really enjoyed what she did in the world.

Then one day it all changed... The building was bombed, being the only survivor. She got all the strength she could to get herself out and evade capture. She did fine on her own for awhile. Then one day Hancock stepped in her way, not knowing if he was to be trusted or not. She still went with him because she didn't want anyone to die because of her. She began to trust him and his group of men. She did not know where she would end up but thinking she was finally safe. Of course that isn't always the case when you don't know the full story.

What I enjoyed most about Darkest Before Dawn is Honor is such a strong willed woman. She wants to live life. She is willing to deal with the pain and whatever else, just to keep moving forward. She is selfless, loving, forgiving even when its not the best circumstances, her life is always on the line. Even with everything she's been thru, she still want to help people.

The connection between Honor and Hancock is there, but he wants to hide it... and everything else that has to do with feelings. I loved their first kiss scene. I like that he wants to protect her for as long as he can and that finally he opened up to her with the truth. Even if it was hard for him to say and her to hear, but in the end she would still sacrifice herself for the greater good.

This book is great. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes stories about a selfless woman, action, very dangerous men, survival skills and a woman's will to live no matter what she has gone through. This story does have some dark moments, so not for everyone.

Any book by Maya Banks is a book well worth reading for me.  Sometimes I get so stuck in a certain genre or constant stream of immediate reads that some titles may slip by me.  Maya Banks is a constant writer.  Feeding her followers immediate reads, after reads in the series that she continues to development and create.  So when I found out that another series was started and I had already missed book 1, a feeling of disappointment washed over me.  I was a little bummed that I would be reading out of the series sequence,   but In His Keeping, although book #2 of the Slow Burn Series, was written so perfectly that it didn’t matter.  It almost felt like a stand alone, however it’s not.  Which provides the reader with more to jump into after the last page.

 

Ariel has a unique life.  A quiet life.  A life of constant protection.   A perfect life, or is it?  Ariel has had a gift since the day she was born.  She strives to keep that gift hidden from the world.  Ensuring that it isn’t known, however only to her parents.  A gift that could be intriguing and harmful at the same time.  If discovered, it could cast a glowing light on her, that could never be removed and life as she knows it would not be the same. In His Keeping, is different than my previous reading experiences by Ms. Banks.  Although the romance is strong in the novel, the storyline is exceptionally unique within itself.  There is an indepth focus on specific details of Ariel’s life.  Moments in the novel that are written so vividly that the reader is able to visualize every movement, every sound, and every feeling of physical pain.  The words on the pages carries the reader to Ariel’s world, allowing you to feel every moment. Ariel’s life is now in jeopardy.  The next day is an uncertainty.  Will Beau be her hero, her lover, or her end to this secret life she lives?

There has been lots of chatter about the Breathless series by Maya Banks. When asked to read Fever, I hesitated as I normally do not review books out of sequence. So with this one, I purchased Rush so I could get the background knowledge I needed on these three very wealthy and close friends, Gabe, Jace, and Ash. In Rush Gabe falls in love with Jace's sister Mia. It was a rocky relationship, but ended with Mia having an engagement ring and a wedding on the horizon. Now with Fever, it's Jace's turn to find true love. All three men are very dominant, with their specific needs and tastes in significant others. Fever is Jace's story. When he meets Bethany for the first time he knows right from the start that she will belong to him. However, the meek and quiet Bethany comes with a past. Jace is determined to provide a new life for Bethany, where all her needs are met and she never goes without again.

I've read a multitude of genres and my taste in story lines varies. However, I must say that there were several times in Fever where skimming over a few paragraphs here and there was needed. Certain scenes truly seemed to repeat themselves and for me once I read it one time, I was ready to move on. I expected so much more with the storyline after reading Book 1 Rush. I felt Fever was overshadowed with scenes that truly took away from Bethany's story, making her appear to be a very weak and helpless character throughout the entire novel. I would've loved to have seen her character develop more, as I did become invested in her life and how Jace fit in it. The 3rd installment, Burn is coming out in August. As this book will be about the final friend Ash, I'm still hoping for a little glimpse of Bethany and an update on her life.

This is the first book in the Breathless trilogy by Maya Bank. When I first picked up Rush all I knew was that it was going to be hot and hot it was. I have heard of Maya Bank's before, but this was the first book I have read by her and definitely will not be my last. When I started reading the first few chapters, it reminded me A LOT of Fifty Shades of Grey because of the whole contract thing, but it was completely different afterwards.

The trilogy is about three best friends (Gabe, Jace and Ash) who so happen to be rich, hot and hotel moguls. Rush is the story of Gabe Hamilton and Mia. Jace's little sister, Mia, has had a crush on Gabe ever since she was a little girl. I mean who wouldn't crush over their brother's hot best friend! Mia and Jace's parents both died in a car accident when she was just a kid. Jace has always taken care of Mia and helps her any way he can and is very protective over her. Mia has recently graduated from college and is working at a coffee shop until she figures out what she should do with her life. Then one night, at one of her brother's hotel's grand opening, Mia decides to go and surprise him. Little did she know that that night would change her whole life. At the hotel, Gabe sees Mia and decides he has waited long enough to approach her. He convinces her to go to his office the next day and there he makes a proposition she cannot refuse.

I absolutely loved everything about Rush, except for one scene between Mia and Gabe while they were in Paris. I don’t want to say more because I don’t want to give too much away, but I felt like he was selfish and crossed the line. Other than that, Rush was amazing and a great read. I just couldn't put it down! Fever, the second book in the series comes out next month and I was lucky enough to get an ARC. I can’t wait to read it! Review coming soon!!!!

This is definitely not a customary romance novel, in this one you have action, brought by a very sexy group of black ops guys & girls, some supernatural is also added to spice it up and of course you have the sensual and sweet romance, in all a very satisfying read.

Nathan, one of the twins and younger brother of the Kelly clan, was capture and torture until he starts to get help by someone, in his mind. Shea is one of two sisters with special abilities, and unexplainably has connected to Nathan. She has a unique way to help him survive and aid his brothers to rescue him. Adding to his nightmares once released, was the idea that he was crazy and could not escape the emptiness he felt. Once again, the contact happens, only this time she is asking him for help and without thinking he follows his mind to find his savior and rescue her realizing that he is complete once again. Everything is not well, both sisters are being hunted by a professional group of military to make use of their ability. Nathan learns that he is over his head and needs the help of the Kelly clan, they jumps to the task immediately. Here things get interesting, we discover secrets and are sucked in the tension and intrigue to keep you glued to the pages.
