Random House YA Authors Dive Into The DC World!

Stop everything you're doing and pay extra attention... Are you ready? Positive?! Let's do this! This Thursday morning turned out to be pretty amazing. Last night I remember being on twitter and seeing Leigh Bardugo teased her fans about some exciting news coming along. Little did we know that this morning Random House would be dropping such an epic bomb on us. If you're a DC fan, do we have some news for you! Random House Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books, has partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Entertainment to publish official young adult novels featuring four iconic DC Comics Super Hero characters beginning in 2017.

Excuse me while I freak out!!!

'Wonder Woman' will be written by Leigh Bardugo.

'Batman' will be written by Marie Lu.

'Superman' will be written by Matt de la Peña.

'Catwoman' will be written by Sarah J. Maas.

Basically this equals all my fangirl dreams coming true and my worlds colliding in the most epic way. We are too excited for 2017!

YA NOVELS BASED ON FOUR DC COMICS SUPER HERO ICONS, BY FOUR BESTSELLING AUTHORS

Wonder Woman™, Batman™, Catwoman™, and Superman™ novels to release beginning in 2017

New York, NY, March 31, 2016—Random House Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books, has partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Entertainment to publish official young adult novels featuring four iconic DC Comics Super Hero characters beginning in 2017. Wonder Woman will be written by Leigh Bardugo, Batman will be written by Marie Lu, Superman will be written by Matt de la Peña, and Catwoman will be written by Sarah J. Maas. The four-book deal for world rights was announced today by Mallory Loehr, Senior Vice President, Publisher of the Random House Books for Young Readers Group.

The deal was negotiated by Loehr, Michelle H. Nagler, Associate Publishing Director, Random House Children’s Books, and Dennis R. Shealy, Editorial Director of Licensed Publishing, Random House/Golden Books Young Readers Group. The books will be edited by Chelsea Eberly, Editor.

Each of the four YA novels will feature one DC Comics Super Hero icon, and will embrace themes of good vs. evil, coming-of-age romance, and Super Heroes from unexpected places who have the determination to achieve seemingly impossible dreams.

Wonder Woman will release at the end of August 2017, followed by Batman, Superman, and Catwoman.

This news comes on the heels of the recent publication of Wonder Woman at Super Hero High, the first book in the middle-grade book series by Lisa Yee, which introduces readers to female Super Heroes of the DC Comics universe during their high school years—prior to discovering their full super power potential.

“Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, and Catwoman have been fan favorites for so long, and it is an incredible honor for us to now have this group of acclaimed young adult authors become part of the legacy—and we know there is a vast audience of teen and adult readers worldwide who will join in our excitement,” says Loehr.

Book News: New Covers for 10 of Lurlene McDaniel's eBooks

I remember I was in 9th grade when I first read a novel by Lurlene McDaniel. I remember crying my eyes out and the story was beautiful, heartbreaking yet heartwarming. The following day, I went to my teacher and told her I wanted to read another book of hers and she gave me about 10 books, all of course by Lurlene. Within a week I've read them all. I went back to my teacher and from then on, she realized I loved reading. She started bringing me copies of her personal library and shared Lurlene's books with me. I am so thankful for her! But that's not the book that is causing this celebration. Today we celebrate the release of a never been released picture book written by the legend himself.

ABOUT WHAT PET SHOULD I GET?In the Fall of 2013, an original manuscript with accompanying sketches by Dr. Seuss, aka Ted Geisel, was discovered in the La Jolla, California home of the late beloved children’s author. That complete manuscript was for the picture book, WHAT PET SHOULD I GET?, and will be published by Random House Children’s Books on July 28, 2015. It is the first original new Dr. Seuss book since the publication of the last book of Dr. Seuss’s career, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! in 1990. Beginning with just five fish and continuing into flights of fancy, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish celebrates how much fun imagination can be. From the can-opening Zans to the boxing Gox to the winking Yink who drinks pink ink, the silly rhymes and colorful cast of characters create an entertaining approach to reading that will have every child giggling from morning to night: “Today is gone. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.”

Originally created by Dr. Seuss, Beginner Books encourage children to read all by themselves, with simple words and illustrations that give clues to their meaning.

I was very excited to take part in the Dr. Seuss celebration. I know many of you grew up with these books like myself. You have probably now read them to your children, grandchildren or if you teach to your students. These books never will get get old. They have this magic that no matter how much time has passed they continue to amaze whoever is reading or listening to the story within its pages.

As part of the celebration I was given one of my all-time favorite Dr. Seuss books to review. Many of you are familiar with it and love it just as much as I do. One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish will never get old for me. Its been a few year since I read this story since my boys are older now but when I read it again for this celebration, it was like I was 5 years old again or I was cuddled up with my boys when they were babies. It really takes you back to that very happy childhood time, when nothing worried you and all you needed to think about is "What is your favorite color?".

So with all that being said it was nice to revisit with the Wump with just one hump, Nook with a book, Zans that opens cans or Gox that box in socks. The simple illustration with vibrant colors continue to memorize one as you read, doesn't matter if your 5 or 75. Everyone should have in their book collection this Dr. Seuss classic along with the others and of course the whole reason we are celebrating, What Pet Should I Get.

Book News: Iconic Little Golden Books Line Retells Star Wars

ICONIC LITTLE GOLDEN BOOKS LINE RETELLS STAR WARS™ FILMS FOR THE FIRST TIME

Random House Children’s Books publishing plan set to begin releasing on July 28, 2015, and includes one title for each film in the saga

New York, NY, July 9, 2015—The iconic Little Golden Book format will extend its collection of titles to include retellings of the epic Star Wars movies for the first time ever, as announced today by Barbara Marcus, President and Publisher, Random House Children’s Books. On July 28, 2015, the first six Star Wars Little Golden Books will be released, including illustrated retellings of The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. Chris Angelilli, Vice President, Editor-in-Chief, Director of License Publishing, Random House Children’s Books, will oversee the publication of these six titles.

All Star Wars Little Golden Books will feature a custom gold spine that includes popular characters from the Star Wars universe.

These books will introduce young readers to the iconic film series that ranks among the top five highest-grossing film franchises of all time, and will be welcome additions for adult collectors and fans.

“We are thrilled to contribute to the Star Wars galaxy with these Little Golden Book retellings,” said Marcus. “Bringing together these two beloved and popular brands is a significant moment, and we look forward to sharing these epic stories in classic Little Golden Book form.”

Launched in 1942, Little Golden Books revolutionized children’s book publishing by making high-quality picture books available at affordable prices. More than 60 years later, many of the original Golden Book titles are still wildly popular.

“The Star Wars franchise has woven itself into the hearts and minds of generations of fans, many of whom read Little Golden Books as children,” said Jeanne Mosure, Senior Vice President, Group Publisher, Disney Publishing Worldwide. “We’re very excited to be incorporating Little Golden Books into our overarching strategy so parents can now introduce their own children to the wonders of the galaxy through this classic format.”

On September 1, 2015, Random House will release a boxed set of the six initial Star Wars Little Golden Books titles.
