Book Review: Taming Lily by Monica Murphy

Taming Lily
The Fowler Sisters #3
Author: Monica Murphy
Reading Level: Adult
Genre: Romance
Released: July 7th 2015
Review Source: Bantan | Edelweiss

I’m in trouble. Again. And instead of facing my problems head on, I’ve run away. Far away this time, and no one can catch me—not my two younger sisters, Violet and Rose, not my father, my grandmother, or that witch Pilar who wants to take control of my family’s cosmetics company. Now I’m in Hawaii, enjoying the sun and the sand and water, where nobody knows the hot mess known as Lily Fowler. And I’m loving every minute of it.

But someone is watching me. Following me. He’s gorgeous. And soon we’re talking, and against all my instincts, I reveal bits and pieces of myself to Max. It feels good, though I know he can’t be the man for me. These sudden feelings we share are way too complicated, too fraught, too intense.

Then everything explodes and I’m forced to return home. My intentions have always been true, but now everyone’s mad at me. I don’t know who to turn to anymore . . . except to Max. He’s who I want to trust. But I’m not so sure I should. Maybe it’s worth the risk—and what-ifs be damned. . . .
** This is an Adult romance novel recommended for ages 18+ due to sexual content and mature subject matter.**

Cover:
I’ve loved all the covers from the Fowler Sister Series. I definitely cannot wait until I have all three on my shelf together. You can even tell by the cover how much of a dominating personality Lily has.

Action:
HELLO! The action in this book was off the CHARTS (as in sexy time action). Max and Lily’s sexy time was definitely the best out of all three of these books. Man Monica Murphy, my fingers were feeling the heat radiating off the pages while reading these two.

Romance:
With intimacy aside, I kind of felt that there wasn’t much romance. Max and Lily both tried to keep their new sexual relationship just that, sexual. So any time one wanted to try and break a little wall down the other got defensive or downright rude, so I wasn’t feeling the romance between the two, the heat definitely though.

Something I loved:
I loved part of the ending that I obviously I won’t divulge because hello spoilers, but definitely satisfying moment after reading the three books.  And seriously the action in this book, off the charts.

Favorite Quote:
“It’s the way he believes in me. Encourages me. Supports me when I need it and steps back when my freedom is necessary.”

Book Review: Stealing Rose by Monica Murphy

Stealing Rose
The Fowler Sisters #2
Author: Monica Murphy
Reading Level: Adult
Genre: Romance
Released: March 3rd 2015

Perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Emma Chase—the second novel in New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy’s sizzling series about three powerhouse sisters and the men who would have their hearts.

People say the youngest child has it easy, but nothing can be further from the truth. Unlike my two sisters, Violet and Lily, I’m never in the limelight. I just work my butt off for Fleur Cosmetics and get little to no thanks for it. I’ve been pushed too far one too many times, and I’m finally brave enough to do something about it.

Maybe my newfound courage has something to do with the amazing pink and white diamond necklace I wear to the party in Cannes. The instant those dazzling heirloom jewels touch my skin, they excite some deep, aching need inside. And when that guy—that totally gorgeous guy—locks eyes with me, I know this nice girl is going to be naughty.

For once it’s my turn. My turn to say no to my father, to outshine my sisters, to walk away from it all—straight into the arms of a mysterious stranger. But what if Caden is much more than I bargained for? Sure, he makes me feel sexy and free in a way I never have before, but there’s something else I can’t quite place—something dangerous. Maybe our “chance” meeting wasn’t so random. Maybe he was looking for me for a reason. Whatever his motive, there’s no going back now.

And maybe I don’t want to.

Someone go and get me all of Monica Murphy’s books stat! This woman knows how to turn the steam on! Bow Chicka Bow Wow.

So obviously this book is filled with dangerously hot scenes that I just couldn’t get enough of, but I also couldn’t get enough of Caden. With the second Fowler installment we’re introduced to our second bad boy, Caden, though he may not have been very rude, he wasn’t definitely criminal. Though his initial motive may have been bad he was always so attentive to Rose and was never truly an asshole to her. Both of these men though start off with wanting to take advantage of them, but in the end they both fall like dominos for these girls.

The best part about having the dual point of view, besides the obvious (getting more Caden), is that we get to watch the guys fall completely in love with their girls. Watching their hard exterior crumble slowly at the hands of these girls is one of the best experiences to read in a book, I just love when the guy falls first.

Unfortunately for me again, is that I wanted more of their background, the stuff other than the sex. Rose wants out of Fleur because of Pilar, and other reasons. She speaks slightly of what she loved doing, but never truly touched on the matter again. I get invested into my characters I love seeing them grow into stronger women. I’d love to have seen Rose do what she loves to do or start a pathway to becoming that person.

Monica Murphy knows her stuff; she knows how to make it hot. The Fowler Sister series is a definitely a series for anyone who loves some romance. It’s fun, flirty, and extremely sexy. I cannot wait to read the final installment, Taming Lily, the oldest and definitely the wildest sister.
