Angus has loved Charlotte since they were teenagers, but he's tired of waiting for her to realize how good they could be. She's broken his heart one too many times, and it's time to move on with his life. Maybe a position halfway across the country will be just what he needs to get over her. But when Charlotte won't let him go without a fight, Angus has to decide if he's willing to let her in again or if she's too late.

This is the last book in the The Husband Maker series. Although I knew early on where the author was headed with the characters and storyline, I didn’t anticipate the turn that Ms. White would take in this last book. Charlotte is known to some as the husband maker.

The one that always seems to put the perfect couples together but can never really seem to get the perfect match for herself. In book 2, the plot thickens where Charlotte travels to another country to follow and find love, only to realize that love is closer than she thinks. Charlotte is now faced with proving to the man she loves, that she in fact realizes that he is the one! Notice I”m a little selective of the name usage on purpose. I don’t want to spoil any part of this wonderful series.

This is one clean romance that I really hate to see come to an end. Karey white has become one of those authors that I’ll read anything that she has written. Her writing style is so smooth and easy going that picking up this book will be simple. Putting it down will be hard!

Excerpt

Excerpt 1 We walked in silence to the elevator. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “Only eight days until you leave.” I kept my eyes anchored on the changing numbers above the door, pretending I didn’t know he was leaving sooner than he’d told me. “Actually, I’m leaving Monday.” “You are?” “I had to pay rent for the whole month of August, so I decided I might as well go a little earlier and get settled in before I get so busy.” “Oh. That makes sense.” The elevator doors opened and a man with a bundle of perfectly behaved balloons stepped off. “You haven’t forgotten dinner, I hope.” I pushed the button for the lobby. “Charlotte, I just—” “No, Angus.” I hoped my voice didn’t sound as desperate as I felt. “Please don’t say you can’t.” He didn’t say anything. “Please.” Angus sighed and shoved his hands in his pockets. “Tomorrow night?” My heart broke a little at his response. He didn’t sound happy at all. He sounded like someone ready to plow through an unpleasant task to get it over with. My pride wanted to tell him to forget the whole thing, but I didn’t. How could I change his mind if I didn’t see him? “Tomorrow’s great,” I said with enough enthusiasm for both of us. “Luigi’s?” “No way. Neither of us need therapy.” That was a lie. “Let’s go somewhere different. Since you’re leaving, let me surprise you. It’ll be fun.” “I’ll drive. I don’t feel like contorting myself into your car.” Angus smiled. It was so lovely, I felt a clutch in my stomach. We stepped out into the angled, evening sunshine and hesitated on the sidewalk. “Where’s your car?” Angus asked. “It’s over there.” “Do you want me to walk you?” “That’s okay, it’s still light.” As soon as the words were out of my mouth, I wanted to take them back. I needed to take advantage of every minute I had with him. “All right. I’ll see you tomorrow.” “See you.” Angus didn’t move when I started walking away. I crossed the road and found my car in the visitor parking lot. I glanced back to see which way Angus had gone, but he was still standing there watching me. It wasn’t until I waved that he turned and walked away.

Blog Tour: The Match Maker by Karey White + Giveaway

Welcome to our stop on The Match Maker tour for Karey White. This tour is hosted by I’m a Reader.  I had the pleasure of winning a copy of the audio of book one in the series, The Husband Maker from the author and truly enjoyed it.  So I'll try to sprinkle in a little bit in my review without giving away anything.  Warning, you may want to stay away from the book summary below. Especially if this series is new to you.

The Match Maker
Author: Karey White
Reading Level: Adult Fiction
Genre: Contempary
Released: November 1, 2014
Review Source: Orange Door Press

(Summary contains spoilers if you have not yet read book #1 The Husband Maker) It’s been six months since Charlotte and Kyle broke up, and the Husband Maker strikes again. Kyle is officially engaged, while Charlotte is still nursing a broken heart. In an effort to get Charlotte out of her rut, she and her best friend decide it’s time for some good old-fashioned matchmaking. While Aleena arranges for Charlotte to meet up with a handsome Scottish tourist, Charlotte gets her two best friends together. But when sparks start to fly between Aleena and Angus, Charlotte is left feeling more alone that ever–at least until the charming Scotsman becomes more than just a safe, rebound guy and teaches her that maybe, just maybe, she can dare to open her heart again.

The Husband Maker is book 1 in this series by Karey White.  I was first introduced to this author by entering a random giveaway on Facebook.  I never expect to win anything and out of the blue I got a response that I won an audio copy through Audible.  I love listening to books on my ride to work every morning, so I was excited to add it to the playlist.  The storyline of The Husband Maker was very unique.  Charlotte, is faced with the fact that in recent experiences, those that she has dated, has ended up married, just not to her.  Thus the nick name the husband maker.

As we move into today’s feature, book 2 the Match Maker, we find that Charlotte is off again in the world of dating.  Just when she thought she may have found the one, she really hasn’t.  But because Charlotte is who she is, there is always someone in the shadows waiting to fill that void.  This time, it’s the cute Scottish guy, Flynn.  Charlotte isn’t really ready to give her heart away again.  Or break the heart of another.  However, the encouragement that she receives from her friends and family pushes her to reach the unreachable.  If only she knew the one she was reaching for may not be the one that will hold her the tightest.

I have to admit.  After listening to book 1, I had a good feeling for where this storyline was going.  Reading The Match Maker, confirmed that guess.  However, the best part of the book is when true love is revealed, even if it does come unexpectedly.   The ending of book two no longer makes it so predictable.  I’m unsure of where Mrs. White is headed in the last installment.  Overall, the rating would be a 3.5, but because she has crafted such a great love story, with such a clean romance approach I had to bump it up.  The characters and the events they encounter are truly realistic and set up a storyline that must be followed from the beginning to the end.  Will Charlotte find true love?  Or has true love found her?
