Top Ten Tuesday: 2/22/11

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This meme was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list complete with one of our bloggers’ answers. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND post a comment on our post with a link to your Top Ten Tuesday post to share with us and all those who are participating. If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.

Top Ten Book to Movie adaptations (for those movies that actually didn't butcher the book!)

Once Upon a Twilight's List (in no particular order):
  • The Notebook - either way book or movie it was wonderful and makes you cry your eyes out.
  • The Green Mile - this was a excellent representation and Micheal Clarke Duncan does a amazing job.
  • The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe - Ben Barnes is enough to make this great, but I also feel it was close representation to the book.
  • The Lord of the Rings:  The Return of the King - I think they nailed every aspect in the movie to the book.
  • Twilight/New Moon/Eclipse - They are not exact but they gave us faces to place with our favorite characters in the book.
  • The Last Song/Dear John - These Nicholas Sparks books I think always get done well. Maybe the actors are not perfect but the movie itself is great.
  • The Da Vinci Code -  Actually all books with Robert Langdon that have been made into movies are on point for me. Great acting by Tom Hanks.
  • I Am Number Four - Just saw this movie and also finished the book, I feel it was well balanced to match the book.
  • The Cat in the Hat -  You wonder how a book like that would be made into a movie, if its even possible and yes it is and best part of the movie are all the bright color and the costumes.
  • Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone -  This is th eonly book from the series I have red , so I can only compare to the movie. I think it was well represented. The effects are great.

  1. Loved Lord of the Rings! I have never read the books but I really loved the movies. It's funny because I resisted them for SO long and thought they were dumb..and one weekend in college when all my friends were away with sports, I ended up watching them all with a random friend. LOVED them.

Loved The Notebook but never actually finished the book!

  3. Tom Hanks is a favorite actor of mine as well, and it's THE reason I decided to watch DaVanci Code....and why I later read the book. ;)

  4. I think Twilight improves on the book.

Lord of the Rings is good, but I don't connect it much with the book - it's the same story but told in a totally different way.

  10. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Sorcerer's Stone made my list too. :)

I know everyone loves LOTR and the Jackson's movies. I'm in the process of reading Fellowship of the Ring right now. I have to say the movies have thrown me for a loop. I feel like everything is different, lol. But, I still love the movies!
