Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This meme was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list complete with one of our bloggers’ answers. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND post a comment on our post with a link to your Top Ten Tuesday post to share with us and all those who are participating. If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.

Ten Books That I Read That Were Outside Of My Comfort Zone (whether you liked them or not)

Yara's List
Jenny's List:
Tammy's List:
  • The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
  • The Postmortal by Drew Magary
  • Bleeding Violet by Dia Reeves - It was very, very strange
  • Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher - rough topic to read about- Teen Suicide
  • Most dystopian books are very hard for me to read, though they are usually very addictive- (The Hunger Games by Su Suzanne Collins and Divergent by Veronica Roth to name a few)
  • I don't like books about Zombies and have a hard time reading books that deal with Ghosts.

  1. The Lovely Bones - now why didn't I think of that? Ditto at dystopian books, I figured it wasn't really my thing either, but it's funny how things change.

  2. The Lovely Bones made my list too. I guess it pushes a lot of readers out of their comfort zone.

My top ten is here if you'd like a look :)

  3. I LOVED To Kill A Mockingbird both times that I read it. What a fantastic book to include on your list!

I'm guessing that contemp is outside the comfort zone? Since that's what a lot of those seem to be. Yeah, I was never like a HUGE contemp person, but if the synopsis is good and not too after school special I'll totally read it.

  4. I had Before I Fall. Contemps were never in my comfort zone until I read that book. It was because of that, that I ended up reading If I Stay. Love those books now.

I've been wanting to read Thirteen Reasons Why, but it is a tough topic and way outside my comfort zone.

Great lists! I have to check out a few of these books.
