Summary: (from goodreads) The full moon is their mistress. They are predators of pleasure and pain. Feared by humans, envied by werewolves, the Dire Wolves are immortal shifters, obeying no laws but their own bestial natures. Once they were many, but now only six remain, a dangerous wolfpack forever on the hunt…

Rifter leads the pack, embracing the lifestyle and ethics of an outlaw biker even as he battles an ancient enemy who has become a new, powerful force. But with his Brother Wolf raging inside him, howling to be unleashed, he needs to satisfy his hungers. And when he meets a drop-dead gorgeous blonde drinking alone in a bar that caters to both human and inhuman, Rifter’s primal instinct is to claim her.

Gwen has her own desires, long unfulfilled. She hopes a passionate night with the leather-clad, Harley-riding biker will ease her suffering. The seizures that have wracked her body her entire life are incurable—and they’re killing her.

But none of that will matter if Rifter can’t stop the growing threat to them all–trappers who are determined to enslave humankind and use the Dire wolves as part of their nefarious plan.

In this world, the human race has a small group of immortal beings that has been given the job of our protection from supernatural beings and witches as a payback for abusing their gifted powers. This small group of supernatural shifters is feared, respected and a very sexy and irresistible group of individuals. For centuries they believed that the six of them were the last of their race, after the elders destroyed most of their race for becoming abusive of their powers, but unexpectedly they are learning, that this is not the truth anymore.

Internal turmoil has shifted the hierarchy of the pack, Rifter has finally accepted the position of King to gain acceptance from the Elders once again. The dire that was to upheld this position before, refused it and had been in hiding , once retrieved he has proven to have a secret that will change their existence once again.

Gwen, a young doctor who thinks she is dying. Suffering of unexplainable seizures, that the medicines are no longer controlling, makes her reach a decision that she has to enjoy and take chances on her last days of her life. The decision to live life to the fullest takes her to a bar known for it's shady reputation, where she bumps into Rifter. Something unexplainable to both of them happens, sparks were igniting some very strong feelings, when suddenly she is overpowered by one of the seizures. There is realization in Rifter that tells him that these are not what she believes they are but something with an incredible explanation. The need to protect her above all causes, raises after some of the witches that fight them as well, are also trying to kill her. The secret that she is being hunted for is also creating a problem with the rest of the Dire brothers, once they learned she has the power within her to finally kill their immortal race. Protection above all is gained after being claimed as his mate by Rifter, this is no easy proposition after the discovery of her secret and whom her father is and if that weren't enough this mating could proof deadlier than all her other foes.

Romance and sexuality is provided by their falling in love, while action and mystery is also mixed in by their fight to survive and be able to protect the humans from the ruthless witches, their pack of followers and other supernatural beings, against all odds. Each of the Dire brothers introduced in the book has their own gifted powers and history to create an opening for the next chapter in this series. Whom will be the next chapter about?, can't wait to find out.
