#YALLFEST: Interview with Lauren Oliver

Today we are excited to share with you an interview with one of this year's YALLFEST authors. 

YALLFest will be happening this November in Charleston, SC. It’s one of the biggest gatherings of Young Adult and Middle Grade Author’s in the South. This years Keynote Speakers are Rae Carson and Veronica Roth. Event will take place Saturday, November 9th 2013.

Every week – they are releasing interviews with authors, and today’s interview is with Lauren Oliver. Here’s what the author had to say…

Q: What one thing do you need to have when you write?

A: Coffee!

Q: What is the hardest line to write- the first or the last?

A: Honestly, neither. It’s just every single line in between that feels impossible.

Q: Best writing tip you ever received?

A: Aim for truth and beauty will follow.

Q: Tell us 5 random facts about yourself.

1. I have fourteen tattoos. 
2. I can fall asleep any time, any place. 
3. I have a phobia of worms. 
4. I hate fruit. 
5. I wrote my first novel largely on my Blackberry.

Q: Where's your favorite place to write?

A: In my sunroom in upstate New York.

Q: What are you working on now?

Two different middle grade books and an untitled young adult novel that my agent described as “the most disturbing thing he’s ever read.” Oops!

Q: What is your favorite genre to write in? To Read?

I love realistic books that include just a hint of fantasy.
