On a remote island in the Pacific, Corpus scientists have taken test tube embryos and given them life. These beings—the Vitros—have knowledge and abilities most humans can only dream of. But they also have one enormous flaw.

Sophie Crue is determined to get to Skin Island and find her mother, a scientist who left Sophie behind years ago. With the help of Jim Julien, a young charter pilot, she arrives--and discovers a terrifying secret she never imagined: she has a Vitro twin, Lux, who is the culmination of Corpus's dangerous research.

Now Sophie is torn between reuniting with the mother who betrayed her and protecting the genetically enhanced twin she never knew existed. But untangling the twisted strands of these relationships will have to wait, for Sophie and Jim are about to find out what happens when science stretches too far beyond its reach.

Before starting this review, let me point out I was told by a friend this book is part of Origin series. Which I was not aware, I looked on Goodreads and I still do not see the reference that this is part of a series. Anyhow, if this is part of the series, you can read it as a standalone. I was not lost or confused while reading and truly enjoyed it

Vitro is about a girl named Sophie Crue. After receiving a mysterious email from her long gone mother, she decides to follow her to get answers. Sophie always questioned why her mother made such decisions that impacted her life, wondering why she abandon her. With the invitation of this mysteries email, provides she flies to this island in the Pacific. The fun begins when she arrives to this mysterious and dangerous island.

To say the least, I really enjoyed reading Vitro. It was really fun  and adventurous reading. I liked the actions and the twists of the story. I was a fan of the TV show – Kyle XY and this book reminded me so much of the show. So it was nice having flashbacks of the show.

One of the things I like the most is that I was really shocked to find out about the truth. After years of wondering, Sophie finally discovers the truth. Honestly, I didn’t see it coming. Sophie didn’t see it coming. I would recommend this book. It was really entertaining and I really, really liked the twists.

  1. I read the first three sample chapters of this and am looking forward to reading the rest. I read Origin and really enjoyed it. Vitro is not a sequel to Origin though. It's set in the same world as Origin, but it's a stand alone novel.

  2. Vitro and Origin are companion novels. I loved Origin, but there were some character development issues. I have this one preordered, though, because the plot of Origin was just so good. I'm glad you enjoyed it, hopefully I will too!
