Did you just see a flash of lightning across the sky on a clear sunny day? Don’t blame Mother Nature.

Skylar Rome should have been having the best summer ever, before heading off to college. Suddenly her whole life changes while visiting her cousin, and meeting the Grand brothers; Mason, in particular. Though she’s sure he is someone she should stay away from, the attraction was undeniable.

Strange things begin to happen, throwing Skylar’s life into turmoil. Implausibly, she gets caught up in a world where the descendants of ancient gods have super powers, and evil beings are after her. Not only are her discoveries difficult to accept, but now she is running out of time and running for her life, while trying to unravel the mystery of what they want from her.

Forced into a battle set into motion long before she was born, will Skylar find the answers she seeks, or will she die trying?

From Gods is the first book I have had the pleasure of reading by Mary and I can honestly say it won’t be my last. Greek mythology is also a first for me as well. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely be picking up the next one.

Skylar soon to be a freshman in college, is spending the summer with her cousin. It’s a tradition for the Skylar and Kayla to spend the summers together but this summer will be like no other. On her way to Kayla’s house Skylar is pulled over by this gorgeous cop. Who doesn't like a man in uniform? She thinks it’s for texting while driving but there is just something off about the cop that Skylar can’t put a finger on. She is just mesmerized by his good looks.

The next day Skylar and Kayla find out they have to work in Kayla’s mother’s diner because she is shorthanded. Good thing the girls are working because in come the Grand brothers. They are all strikingly attractive but one of them Skylar has seen before, or has she? Nick and Kayla hit it off from the get-go but there is weirdness between Mason and Skylar. Mason knows that Skylar is like him and his brothers but at the same time she is different.

This book had me hooked from the beginning but I am not going to lie I did get quite frustrated at times because you can tell that Mason absolutely adores Skylar but he is so closed off that he won’t tell her. I loved how Mason was Skylar’s the knight in shining armor in this book. Skylar is one to not express her feelings for Mason either but you know those two have heavy feeling for each other.

The story was full of action that I truly didn't expect, drama and of course the love story. The big shocker is the cliff-hanger ending. Yeah, I really wasn't expecting that one. Now I shall wait for the next. I would recommend this book for everybody young, old and in between.

Mary Ting resides in Southern California with her husband and two children. She enjoys oil painting and making jewelry. Writing her first novel, Crossroads Saga, happened by chance. It was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother, and inspired by a dream she once had as a young girl. When she started reading new adult novels, she fell in love with the genre. It was the reason she had to write one-Something Great. Why the pen name, M Clarke? She tours with Magic Johnson Foundation to promote literacy and her children’s chapter book-No Bullies Allowed.
