Top Ten Books (or Film Adaptations) That Will Make You Cry
I am not one to cry over books. It just doesn't happen. I am a visual person, so if I see it then I will cry a river. So this will probably reflect books that have been turned into movies that have brought tears on when I saw it. But there is one book that to this date has been the only book to make me cry. curse you molly McAdams, lol!
- Taking Chances by Molly McAdams: The first book ever in history to make me produce actual tears and even ugly cry. Even now my heart hurts when I think of the book.
- New Moon by Stephenie Meyer: The book hurt when Edward left but seeing it was what finally did me in with tears.
- Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer: The movies once again brought out the full on sobbing and still does every time I watch both parts of Breaking Dawn.
- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak: OMG when I saw Liesel kiss her dead best friend, forget it no stopping the tears.
- The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks: In all honestly pretty much any Nicholas Sparks book that has been adapted has made me cry. This one especially, such a beautiful story.
- Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen: Who didn't cry over Rosie the Elephant.
- Old Yeller by Fred Gipson: This book and then movie broke my young heart.
- Bloodrose by Andrea Cremer: This book came so so so close to producing actual tears, it did cause loading screaming and book chucking though and deep phone conversations about it.
- The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg: Happy tears when I saw the movie. One of my favorite movies to watch during the Holidays.
- Forrest Gump by Winston Groom: Who didn't cry!!! Run Forest Run!
- A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer - I was 13 years old when I first read this. But I've never cried as I cried with this book. This book is the most heartbreaking and most inspiring book out there.
- New Moon by Stephenie Meyer: Oh, Bella. How I ugly cried when Edward left.
- Making Faces by Amy Harmon: This made to my top favorite books of all time easily.
- Vain by Fisher Amelie: Seriously, the Africa scene -the kids getting burned.
- If I Stay by Gail Forman: Losing every member of your family. Yeah, I cried.
- Hopeless by Colleen Hoover - The sad and happy tears.
- The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - The car scene just broke me
- A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks - If you watched the movie, let me tell you something it didn't do any justice. The meaning of the walk - "sobs*
- Wait for Me by Elizabeth Naughton: Such a power love story
- When We Collide by A.L. Jackson: A tale of loss and love.
The Book Thief made it on my list as well this week, it caught me unawares with the tears. And A Walk to Remember broke my teenage heart, we were all passing it around when the movie came out.
ReplyDeleteI never read the book it was based off but the movie adaptation for Forrest Gump to this day evokes the same response from me ;_;
Great lists you guys! :) My TTT
Oh Water for Elephants. I totally forgot about that one. And Hopeless was just all around sad, but such a good book! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteWater for Elephants was really hard for me. I definitely cried several times while reading that.
ReplyDeleteNicholas Sparks is definitely a great fit for this week's topic. His books are so heartbreaking! Great lists - from both of you!
ReplyDeleteI still haven't finished The Book Thief after starting in November, so I really should, everyone's said it's an emotional read, and while I haven't read If I Stay yet, I do own it, so it's at least going to get read one day! Great lists girls :)

Wow! What a great list! It is amazing to me all of the books I forget that I have cried over through all of the years. Nicholas Sparks made me cry in pretty much every single book he has written. I have seen The Fault In Our Stars so much today it has hit my "I will never read due to tears" list. lol
