Find out more about the book

World War III has left the world ravaged by nuclear radiation. A lucky few escaped to the Alaskan wilderness.

They′e survived for the last thirty years by living off the land, being one with nature, and hiding from whoever else might still be out there.

At least, this is what Juneau has been told her entire life.

When Juneau returns from a hunting trip to discover that everyone in her clan has vanished, she sets off to find them. Leaving the boundaries of their land for the very first time, she learns something horrifying: There never was a war. Cities were never destroyed. The world is intact.

Everything was a lie.

Now Juneau is adrift in a modern-day world she never knew existed. But while she′s trying to find a way to rescue her friends and family, someone else is looking for her. Someone who knows the extraordinary truth about the secrets of her past.

Fans of Amy Plum will take to After the End just like we all did with the Die for Me series. Plum's writing grabs your attention immediately. In After the End she introduced us to something that doesn't really exists and we were able to believe it like if it really did in our world. That's how sincere her writing is.

In After the End we follow along Juneau and Miles with their own point of views throughout the book. Each live very different lives and don't know each other exist to start off. Juneau has been sheltered her whole life living in the wild in Alaska. She lives knowing that the world was ravaged by a war and they can't leave their area. Besides she is the future leader of her tribe, so she must show leadership qualities. Juneau has special abilities such as conjuring and physic powers. The life they live is a simple one free of everything we depend on everyday. Then one day Juneau goes hunting and when she comes back her whole tribe is gone. Its like if they vanished into thin air.

Cue next Miles, this city boy lives like we do everyday in the present life where no wars have happen or anything close to that. Miles has no choice but to work for his father's company because of certain troubles he has faced. How Miles and Juneau meet will have to do with Miles and his father company. You will learn that Miles' dad will do whatever it takes to get what he needs and Miles better be ready to comply with anything he is asked.

You will follow along each of their story lines until they cross finally each other and the stories will become one. Juneau's story is the primary story and what she discovers after living sheltered all her life will either break her or make her stronger. Will "The Yara" help her get through it all? Pick up your copy of After the End to discover if she does and what exactly "The Yara" is.

You are warned, the end is a BIG cliffhanger, one to leave you with your mouth open. This book has no set genre, it will fall into many. So if you are a fan of dystopian, thriller or paranormal then you will like After the End. Great start to Plum's new series.

Authors like Beth Revis, Kimberly Derting, Josephine Angelini & more will be on the tour. As Amy mentioned in her recent newsletter, the truth-or-dare theme is particularly relevant to AFTER THE END, since Juneau's oracle has said she has to tell the truth or she won't find her clan.

  2. I just read another review of this book, and that review was 2.5 stars. I'll just have to read this myself to see if I enjoy it as much as you did. Is it me, or some are just picky when it comes to dystopian books? I'm currently reading one now called After The Parch, and i'm currently undecided about it. Hopefully I'll finish it this weekend. I can't seem to pick it back up right now.
