Yara's movie reflection:

Thanks to 20th Century Fox I was able to view the film. I went in not knowing what would happen because I had not gotten around to reading the novel first. Michelle from our team had actually been the one to read the novel back in 2013 and then she went to an advance screening of Gone Girl and shared her movie review last October. I didn't read her review, so that when I finally was able to see the film, I would be surprised the whole time.

Man, was I was something worse. Surprised was the least of my emotions. The movie kept me in suspense every single second, mouth hanging open and me sitting on the edge of the sofa. I would say out-loud my theories and then next scene would happen and it would completed annihilate my theory. I never guessed correctly what happen to Amy Dunne. That makes for a great movie.

If you didn't make it out to the theaters when Gone Girl released or even if you did, you MUST WATCH this film (again). You will not be let down. Just make sure you have time to sit and enjoy it, because the film is 149 minutes long. But worth every second you watch it. And that ending, KILLED ME!

  1. I love the first scene with Tyler Perry in the film; he's not how I imagined Tanner Bolt from the book but he owned it immediately.

My favorite scene from the movie is when (spoiler!) Amy is revealed to be alive, and we are taken through the process of how she framed her husband for murder. I also loved the scene where she leaves her motel/hotel neighbor's house after watching a segment on herself and Nick and she jumps in glee.

  13. I was really surprised by how much I LOVED Tyler Perry in the movie. His character didn't make much of an impression on me when I was reading, but I really loved him in the movie. I'm trying to stay vague to avoid spoilers!

  17. Clipping by at a speedy 145 minutes, Gone Girl suffers only slightly from a script heavy on the exposition and leading dialogue, because, ultimately, the writing is too damn good to dislike.
