WE ARE NOT ALONE

Five days ago, a massive UFO crashed in the Midwest, killing thousands of people. Since then, nothing–or no one–has come out.

THEY HAVE ARRIVED

If it were up to Alice, she’d be watching all of this on the news from Miami, Florida. Instead, she’s the newest student at a boarding school not far from the crash site–because her dad is the director of special projects for NASA, and if anything’s a special project, it’s this.

AND THERE’S NO GOING BACK

A shell-shocked country is waiting, glued to televisions and computer screens, for a sign of what the future holds. But when the aliens emerge, they’re nothing like what Alice expected. And only one thing is clear: Nothing will ever be the same again.

Alice's Dad has a job that gets them front row seats to the biggest event of the year - an alien spacecraft crash landing on our planet. Unsure of what to expect from the alien's who have landed they go into their new adventure with caution. Alice gets to start at a coed boarding school while her Dad is working 24/7 on making new discoveries for NASA.

I love science-fiction. I love the what if's that are present in our universe. And I undeniably believe in aliens. Do I want them to crash land here? Sure - but only if they're the nice alien's that we so rarely see in TV shows and Movies. This book brings to light what would most likely happen if a UFO was to crash land in our country.

I feel as though the story dragged a little too long. About 3/4 of the way through a twist gets thrown into the story. A twist that I would've rather have happened halfway through the book. This way the resolution of the story could get drawn out. There's one final action scene that I really would've wanted to last a lot longer than it actually did. It felt a little anticlimactic to me. I also feel as though the ending didn't really leave us with a resolution. So here's hoping that a sequel is in the works so all of my questions can be answered.

Apart from that I loved the story. I love the Guides trying to make peace with humans and learn their language or just how to be more human. Makes you realize that humanity is something that everyone can - hopefully - learn.

Alice is a strong character with her friends who surround her bringing out the best of her character. I loved all the 'nerds' as they called themselves. They each represented a different kind of nerd. A biologist, a mathematician, people who just flat out knew more about pop-culture than life. And me, I felt like I could jump into their little group and fit right in. Which helps you connect with the characters more.
