#1 internationally bestselling author Karin Slaughter returns with a sophisticated and chilling psychological thriller of dangerous secrets, cold vengeance, and unexpected absolution, in which two estranged sisters must come together to find truth about two harrowing tragedies, twenty years apart, that devastate their lives.

Sisters. Strangers. Survivors.

More than twenty years ago, Claire and Lydia's teenaged sister Julia vanished without a trace. The two women have not spoken since, and now their lives could not be more different. Claire is the glamorous trophy wife of an Atlanta millionaire. Lydia, a single mother, dates an ex-con and struggles to make ends meet. But neither has recovered from the horror and heartbreak of their shared loss—a devastating wound that's cruelly ripped open when Claire's husband is killed.

The disappearance of a teenage girl and the murder of a middle-aged man, almost a quarter-century apart: what could connect them? Forming a wary truce, the surviving sisters look to the past to find the truth, unearthing the secrets that destroyed their family all those years ago . . . and uncovering the possibility of redemption, and revenge, where they least expect it.

Powerful, poignant, and utterly gripping, packed with indelible characters and unforgettable twists, Pretty Girls is a masterful thriller from one of the finest suspense writers working today.

Can we take a moment and appreciate this story? HOLY SH*T! This book is intense! I was curious why my library was recommending this audiobook and BOY was I blown away! Without a doubt Pretty Girls is the true definition of a thriller story. So if you want to read or listen to a very intense story, then look no further.

This is a story of three sisters. One disappear and the other one falls into drug abuse and addition, while the other falls in love with a man. It's been over twenty years since Lydia and Claire's older sister, Julia, disappeared. No one knows what happened to her. Lydia and Claire went their separate ways but as Claire's husband, Paul, is killed, the two reconnect. And little by little Claire and Lydia will learn the truth about Paul and the disappearance of Julia.

This is not an easy read nor is it soft to the ears, but the moment I started listening to the story.... boy, was I sucked in. As we leap into each character's story, information are given and if you're like me, that likes to put information together, then you will eventually see the big picture. Nonetheless, once you discover the truth, you will find it terrifying. The twist and turns will make you fall off your chair.

Pretty Girls is dark, full of violence but full of shocking moments and the story will make your hair neck stand of fear. Some parts are very disturbing. With this said, if you want something new or something that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then you should give this a go.
