TORN
A Wicked Saga #2
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Reading Level: New Adult
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Released: July 19, 2016
Review Source: InkslingerPR

Torn between duty and survival, nothing can be the same.

Everything Ivy Morgan thought she knew has been turned on its head. After being betrayed and then nearly killed by the Prince of the Fae, she’s left bruised and devastated—and with an earth-shattering secret that she must keep at all costs. And if the Order finds out her secret, they’ll kill her.

Then there’s Ren Owens, the sexy, tattooed Elite member of the Order who has been sharing Ivy’s bed and claiming her heart. Their chemistry is smoking hot, but Ivy knows that Ren has always valued his duty to the Order above all else—he could never touch her if he knew the truth. That is, if he let her live at all. Yet how can she live with herself if she lies to him?

But as the Fae Prince begins to close in on Ivy, intent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld, Ivy is running out of options. If she doesn’t figure out who she can trust—and fast—it’s not only her heart that will be torn apart, but civilization itself.

The story:  Torn picks up right where Wicked left off. I will try to leave this as vague as possible to prevent any major spoilers for those that haven't started the series yet.  The book was A PAGE TURNER!  I so loved being immersed in this fascinating world again.  I loved reading about and getting to know these characters even more in book two. I've become so connected with them that they are practically family and I don't ever want the series to end.  The story is set in New Orleans and Jennifer managed to step/amp up book two when book one was already amazing!  There is more action, romance, and humor.  The Fae prince is working harder than ever to permanently open the gates connecting this world to the other world.  It's up to the order, and most importantly Ivy, to prevent that from happening.

The likes:  I love Ivy, she ends up discovering A HUGE SECRET at the end of Wicked and is forced to keep it to herself as well as deal with everything else going on in the world. She is a rock, and is completely bad ass for her strength.  AND REN!!!!!  He's everything!  I love them together. I love their love and their chemistry.  One of my favorite lines, "I loved him. God, I loved him more than I loved pralines and beignets, and that was hardcore, because my love of sugary, sweet things rivaled the most epic love stories known to man."  Ivy is definitely a girl after my own heart.  I love the banter between the characters.  My favorite character is STILL, Tink. He has so much personality and I want to stuff him in my pocket to live forever. There is so much intensity and drama in Torn, even more so than in Wicked.   It's for that reason, Jennifer is and always will be a part of my top favorite authors.

The dislikes:  This series has some predictability to it.  That's the only issue. Even with the slight predictability factor, I still LOVED it!  Also the fact that I don't have book three in my kindle!  I need that book now!

The rating:  This book gets five stars from me because from the start of book one I couldn't put these books down. It's the perfect blend of drama, love, nail-biting intensity and humor.   You will not be disappointed, I highly recommend this series!  I do, however, definitely recommend starting with book one because these books cannot be read as standalones.  To know what is going on in book two, you need to read book one.  So get on it and read this series!  Put this at the top of your TBR list.

Blog Tour: Wicked | Jennifer L. Armentrout | Interview with Tink

Welcome to our stop during the WICKED blog tour for Jennifer L. Armentrout.

We have the best interview with our favorite character: TINK
(if you haven't read Wicked yet, you are missing out on some "wicked" characters)

Check out OUaT's review of WICKED - click here

Interview with Tink!!!

OUaT: Welcome to OUaT Tink, We are excited to have you on today as our honored guest. It the first time we have a Brownie on the site. So you have now officially pop that Brownie cherry! What do you have to say about that?
I'm not surprised that I'm your first to pop the cherry. Where I come from, I'm the official cherry popper.

OUaT: No beating around the bush, Im going straight to the main question all your fans will have for you and that is, What is up with you and the stuffed trolls dolls? Please keep all answers at least pg-13 if possible Tink.
They remind me of my family, so get your dirty human mind out of the gutter.

OUaT: In the otherworld Im sure you dont have things like the internet and Amazon, so how did you become so familiarized with all the human technology and online shopping? It seems you might even have a bit of an addiction.
I'm a brownie. Therefore I don't get out much, so I have a lot of time on my hands. It's not an addiction. I can quit Amazon Prime whenever I want. I just... I just don't want to quit them.

OUaT: In your famous chocolate cake, are you just using normal ingredients or are you adding something special to the mix?
Something special. Magic.

OUaT: You and Ivy have this love-hate relationship but I bet inside you really care and watch out for Ivy, what was it about Ivy that you knew you when you met, that you guys would hit it off as friends? How do you trust the one person that shouldn't be trusted and can ban you at anytime?
Ivy would be lost without me. Yep. I'm her faithful brownie, to the end and all that shiz. We connected. Like soul mates. Not the in love, going to make babies kind of connection though. And besides, I have her Amazon Prime password. So she's my bae. By the way, do you know what bae really means? Look it up. Get back to me. Maybe people will stop using that word.

OUaT: Tink how do you stay in shape? The way Ivy describes you, you might be tiny, but many human men would be jealous of your physique.
I was born this way.

OUaT: If tomorrow you had to go back to your world and could take one item from the mortal world, what would you choose?
Ivy's laptop, therefore I'd have access to Amazon whenever I needed it. Not that I need it, but you know....

OUaT: Think what are some of your favorites movies that you have watched while living with Ivy?
Harry Potter!

OUaT: Tink do you trust Ren? Can you explain your answer.
I've seen his dong. I do not trust him.

OUaT: Tink in the book we really dont get to know who Tink was before you ended up in the mortal world, Can you tell us a little bit about yourself from before.
If I did, then I'd have to hurt you. For realsies.

OUaT: Who do you like better? Humans or Fae?
Humans. Duh.

OUaT: Tink if you could have written in any scene you like that involved you, what would you have added to the book?
A female Tink would be really nice. Or even a dude. I don't discriminate.

OUaT: Tink can you tell us what we can expect from Tink in the sequel?
More of me, of course.

Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

Excerpt

He left me standing there as he disappeared into the bathroom, and I tried to make sense of what just happened. All I knew was that the punch-in-the-chest sadness that came whenever I thought of Shaun wasn’t there. And I didn’t know what to make of that.
Or anything.
Taking a deep breath, I put my clothes on his dresser and all but dashed into the bed, and good Lord, the mattress was comfy! I scooted to the middle and froze, having no idea what side he slept on or if he had a side. I totally had a side—always the furthest away from closet doors because I was a dork. Straightening the shirt out so my undies weren’t saying hi to the world, I tugged the blanket up to my hips and lay flat on my back.
I so needed an adult to explain to me what the hell I was supposed to do from this point on.
There wasn’t much time to stress over it because Ren returned from the bathroom. His ever-present half grin spread as he saw me. I clutched the blanket, my breath caught in my throat. My heart pounded so fast that I wondered if I was going to have a heart attack, and God, wouldn’t that be embarrassing. I swallowed nervously and willed my heart to slow.
Turning off the lamp, shadows fell around Ren, but when he faced me, I could tell that he’d frozen. I couldn’t make out his expression as he bent, taking a hold of the covers on his side.
“Ivy?”
“Hmm?”
He slowly edged the covers back from his side and climbed in, and although I couldn’t make out his eyes, I knew he was watching me. “I’m happy that you’re here.”
My fingers eased off the blanket.
As he stretched out beside me, my eyes adjusted to the lack of light, and I could see that he was smiling. “Are you?”
“Yeah,” I whispered.
“Good. That’s all I wanted to hear.”
Wow, the warmth that flooded my chest could’ve turned me into a puddle of goo in that bed. I waited for him to make a move on me, but seconds ticked by. He seriously was behaving himself. I dared a quick peek at him, and found I could not look away.
Ren lifted his arm closest to me, and a heartbeat passed. I hesitated for a moment, and then, my heart pounding even more, I slid over until my leg brushed his. He curved his arm around my waist and drew me up against his side, guiding me down until I was nestled against his warm, bare chest. Another moment passed and then I lowered my cheek, and the simple pleasure of lying like this nearly broke me right open.

Oh what a wicked tale JLA has weaved inside the pages of Wicked. So many positives and not one negative. From start to finish I was hypnotized within the pages, it's like I was glamoured by the book. Wicked is everything we heart about JLA's writing. Can I compare it to her other books, yes and no. Wicked is its own entity in my book with all the JLA ingredients. Three words really: A MUST READ!!!

Wicked is the story of Ivy, a member of the secret organization "The Order". This group protects the humans from The Fae that try to glamour and feed off the human. The Order goes out every night to find and send these Fae back to the Otherworld by staking them with iron. Ivy also attends college when she isn't out looking for Fae. Ivy at 22 years old has gone through terrible times in her young life and the scars are deep inside and out. See Ivy has lost everyone close to her. It's a miracle she has survived so long but that just makes her train and focus ever harder in staying alive and getting rid of the Fae that have ruined her life.

Ivy had her routine down but then she came across "someone" she never expected even existed. And it seems instead of everyone believing her, they think she has lost a few screws in her head. Now her superior sticks her with the new transfer (not a bag gig if you ask me). Ivy's world once again takes a hit, this time it's due to the panty-dropping sexy green eyes of a man Ren. Ivy doesn't know if she wants to maim him or kiss him more. Those green eyes are sure to confuse Ivy every minute they are around each other. Ivy feels she has lost her normal balance and must get back to the way things were for her. No one close, no one dies. Well their is the one exception. Ivy is keeping a pretty big secret from everyone, she kinda has adopted this special "it" that if they find out they will finish what she could not do herself and this "it" comes with one heck of a mouth and can bake a mean chocolate cake.

I can sit here and write 50,000 words describing the story and its greatness, but its simple. Just buy the book and read it. You will not be disappointed. And the last chapter, HOLY SHIZZZZ. That's one heck of a chapter. I wish I could forward time and jump to the month when book two is released, because I seriously need to know what happens now after certain revelations and actions went down. JLA sure knew how to leave one with a serious case of withdrawal. This books will cause all sorts of feels. And I mean feels. If you are familiar with JLA's writing you know exactly what I am talking about.

BUY THE BOOK!!!

Now before this book release on 12/8/14. You can read a few chapters JLA has revealed to wet your appetite so far: Intro, Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4 and Chapter 5. I also shared a small teaser this past Tues, here is the graphic.

And the next exciting thing I'd like to share is a giveaway. Since OUaT is an official member of "The Elite", we have some swag to give a couple folks.

The giveaway will contain a Wicked magnet, Wicked bookmark, Wicked tattoo. We will give 3 sets of this prize away. Enter below. Open Internationally.
