Book Release | Review: All Too Well by Corinne Michaels

All Too Well by Corinne Michaels is now live!

For as long as I can remember, Lachlan West has been my brother’s best friend and the love of my life. Trouble is, he kissed me four years ago and then never spoke to me again.

I was doing great pretending he doesn’t exist until I was assigned to write an article about former college athletes and I learn that the sexy single-dad is my first interview.

Determined to wow my editor with an amazing sportsball piece. (Have I mentioned I know nothing about sports?) I head to Ember Falls, ready to face my fears—and the man I love.

The grumpy quarterback turned fireman wants nothing to do with me or my article. Yet, somehow I persuade him to let me follow him around for a few weeks, and even if he said yes just to get rid of me, I’ll take it.

But the longer I stay in his small town, the more complicated our story gets. The boundaries we set fall to the ground—along with our clothes.

He holds me like I matter, touches me like I’m cherished and kisses me like he loves me.

We both know I have to leave Ember Falls, and he’ll never follow—I only wish I could write a different ending to our story.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Corinne never fails to bring A M A Z I N G stories. I went into All Too Well completely blind, the way I like to read and I was enamored from the start.

All Too Well is book one in a the Ember Falls series.  It is a small town romance about a single dad, Lachlan, and his best friend’s sister, Ainsley.  They shared a kiss four years in the past that left huge impressions on each other.

They are forced into close proximity, one of my absolute favorite troupes, and passion ensues. I love these two together. I felt so many different emotions reading this book. It was a nonstop page turner and I read it in one sitting. This is one of my favorite books of 2024. I highly recommend checking out this book!

Review Tour: What Happens at the Lake by Vi Keeland

Title: What Happens at the Lake
Author: Vi Keeland
Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance
Trope: Grumpy-Sunshine
Release Date: January 15, 2024

BLURB

When life took an unexpected turn, I decided to get out of New York for a while. What better place to go than the idyllic small town my father spoke about so fondly when I was growing up? Laurel Lake held the title America’s Friendliest Town for seventeen years running, and friendly was just what I needed right now.

Unfortunately, friendly wasn’t the welcome I got when I arrived.

Instead, I got Fox Cassidy. My tall, dark, and burly neighbor, who grunted at me instead of saying hello.

Okay, so I might’ve had his mailbox in my hands the first time we met. And it might’ve been a little crushed after removing it from under my tire. And I might’ve needed his help breaking into the place I was staying in after the key broke off in the lock. But still…he didn’t have to be so grumpy.

As time went on though, I started to notice things about Fox other than his glares. Like how he watched me when he thought I wasn’t looking, or how fire ignited in his eyes whenever we bickered. Though I was in Laurel Lake to escape my problems, not create new ones. And getting involved with a man like Fox screamed trouble, even if he was gorgeous and unlike any man I’d ever met.

But alas, problem seemed to be my middle name this year. So why not have some fun while I was here for the summer? It seemed like a good plan. At least until it was time to go home…

They say what happens at the lake, stays at the lake. But it’s not so easy to walk away when what stays behind…is your heart.

Vi Keeland once again produces an amazing book. As usual, I went into this book completely blind. It starts out with Josie hitting the mailbox of her new grumpy neighbor. She had inherited a house from her dad when he passed away and up until recently, it had been occupied by an elderly, hoarding tenant. The realtor informed her it just needed a little TLC but when Josie got there it was in desperate need of a complete overhaul.  We find out that Josie holds a PhD in pharmaceuticals and her job caused her severe anxiety and depression that lead to a month long inpatient stay in a mental facility. Once she is discharged, she’s still not ready to go back to work so she decides to stay at the house she inherited in her dad’s hometown.

Fox has a bit of a past as well which attributes to his perpetual grumpiness. He’s a giant, sexy ex hockey player turned contractor that always finds himself helping out his new neighbor.

I love how this book navigates mental health. I have never read a book that approached it the way this one did and it was refreshing to read. I love Josie!  She’s such a bad ass that never wants to give up no matter how difficult her task seems. Of course I love Fox!  He is a great guy at heart also and is aptly described as a coconut, hard on the outside and soft and sweet on the inside. I read this book in one sitting as it was a quick read and I couldn’t put it down. As always, it was packed with all the emotions that I’ve grown accustomed to feel in a Vi Keeland novel. It was an amazing journey of perseverance and personal growth. I definitely recommend this one!

Book Review: The Rules of Dating My Best Friend’s Sister

Title: The Rules of Dating My Best Friend's Sister
Authors: Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward
Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 2, 2023

BLURB

From New York Times bestselling authors Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward comes a new standalone romance.
Rule number one for dating your best friend’s sister: Don’t.
Just don’t do it.
Especially when your best friend is dead and the last thing he made you promise him was that you’d keep an eye on his little sister, but not too good of an eye.
As a musician whose longest committed relationship was six weeks, I, Holden Catalano, was the last guy on Earth who should’ve been messing around with Laney Ellison.
The super smart girl whom I affectionately dubbed Lala since childhood was always off limits.
Though that didn’t stop me from thinking about her over the years, especially those times when the two of us would sneak out onto the roof and talk for hours after my buddy fell asleep. It was innocent, but I’d always held a torch for her.
After Ryan passed away, I vowed to always protect Lala. That included protecting her—from me.
Now all grown up and a scientist, Lala needed a place to stay when she accepted a temporary research position in New York. I thought I did the right thing by offering her an apartment in the building I co-owned with my three friends.
Except having her close by reignited all of those old feelings.
And things started to get complicated.
Especially since she was engaged.
And especially since, lately, I’d noticed something more in her eyes. Desire.
Lala didn’t exactly look at me like the platonic brother figure I was trying so desperately to be, even though I wanted her more than I’d ever wanted anything.
Yet, I was being good—on my very best behavior.
But you know what they say…all good things must come to an end, right?

My favorite duo deliver again. I have to start off by saying I LOVE HOLDEN and was so glad to learn he was getting his own story. The close proximity, the forbidden aspect, CHEF’s KISS.

I love reading about the long term crushes these two had on each other ever since they were young. The chemistry they carry into adulthood is nuclear. Side note, I love the names of the characters, Lala and Holden. Then trying to dance around their feelings while living next door and while Lala is in a relationship made the book so amazing. I couldn’t put it down.

Every single Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward book has been between a 4 and 5 star read for me and this one is no different. I binge read it in one sitting. I’m giving this book 4.5 stars because it had all the elements I love in a book.

Blog Tour: One Last Time by Corinne Michaels

ONE LAST TIME
Author: Corinne Michaels
Reading Level: New Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Released: February 26, 2018
Review Source: Social Butterfly PR

I’m getting really good at cutting my losses.

First, the husband. Divorcing him was the best decision I ever made. But between single-parenting and job-hunting, I can’t catch my breath. When a celebrity blogging position falls into my lap, I’m determined to succeed.

That is, until I get my first assignment and actually see Noah Frazier for the first time . . . practically naked and dripping wet. My heart races and I forget how to form complete sentences. His chiseled abs, irresistible smirk, and crystal blue eyes are too perfect to be real. So, what do I do? Get drunk and humiliate myself, of course.

I’m ready to forget the awkward night, yet Noah has no intention of allowing me to move on. Instead, he arranges for me to write a feature on him, ensuring a lot more time together. One embarrassing moment after another, one kiss after another, and before I can stop myself, I realize—I’m falling in love with him.

But when the unthinkable happens, can I even blame him for cutting his losses?

What I wouldn’t give for just one last time . . .

Holy shit Corinne Michaels can write a good book.  I discovered her books from a friend because I found out she was living in the same town as us at the time.  From the very first page I was a solid Corinne fan.  Her words flow so effortlessly and every single book reaches the soul.

Though I love everything that I have read of Corinne's, One Last Time is my all time favorite.  I have never, EVERRRR, connected so completely with a character as I did with Kristin McGee.  It was like Corinne was writing my life when I started reading.  The dedication of the book legitimately shook me. "To women who stay when they should leave... You deserve to be loved.  You deserve to be happy.  You deserve to be free." Kristin's life gets turned upside down due to a divorce from a verbally/emotionally abusive husband of almost 17 years.  They had two kids together and she finds herself a single mother for the first time.  She's on the path to discovery and finding her true self and let me tell you, it's magical.

On the way to self discovery, she meets an insanely gorgeous celebrity as a part of her new job as a journalist.  Noah Frazier sooooo meets all of my expectations of a sexy book boyfriend from Corinne.  He's so sweet and supportive and the way he pursues Kristin gave me all the feels.  I love them together.  I'm so happy for Kristin, I feel like she is a friend and I cheered her on the whole time.

I also love the friends that have Kristin's back.  They are the type of friends that every girl needs in her tribe.  Ones that will be there for you at the drop of a dime regardless of their situations.  Their friendships made me love the book even more.

I'm rating this book 5 stars because it legitimately made me feel every emotion.  It was like I was a part of the story and I was captured from the very start.  I am never disappointed by Corinne Michaels' writing.  Go get this book and all of her books, trust me.

Excerpt:

Before I can make a move either way, the glass door slides open and Noah walks through the
threshold.
My legs start to quiver as his eyes meet mine. All I can think about is how I’d like to climb him like a
tree and shake his coconuts. I thought he was hot in the photo, then he was better through the
window, but up close, he’s otherworldly.
“Hi.” Noah’s throaty voice floats around me. “You must be Kristin.”
Instead of speaking, I stand here with my mouth hanging open. Some small sounds that could be
words escape, but they aren’t coherent.
Kill me now.
“Noah, this is my best friend, Kristin. Who we told you about.” Heather elbows me.
“Yes. Me. Hi. Kristin. I. You. Hi.”

Smooth. Someone should video this because I’m sure it’s highly entertaining.
“Right.” Noah flashes a blinding smile. “I hear you’re a reporter?”
Okay, Kristin, you have to speak in more than one-word increments or grunting noises.
I grab Heather’s glass she just poured and hope it’ll act as a talisman. “Yes, for a small blog, but I’m
that. A reporter. For a blog. I write.”
And a bumbling idiot.
Noah’s green eyes are filled with humor. He moves a little closer and places his hand on top of mine.
“Eli filled me in a little. I’m happy I came.”
I’m pretty sure I just came. At least we’re all coming.
“Me, too.”
His lips turn up as his eyes rake my body. “See you out there.” He winks and walks back out.
My ovaries have officially disintegrated.
I turn back to Heather, who bursts out into a fit of laughter. “Oh, that was epic. You all said I was
starstruck when I met Eli? You should’ve seen that!” Heather continues to laugh at my expense.
“Yes. Me. Um. Blog. Er—” She mocks.
“Shut up.” I laugh—because, really, what else can I do—and bump her hip before moving around
the bar and grabbing a glass. “Now, pour me a shot before I drink straight from the bottle.”
There’s only one way to get through tonight.
Alcohol.
Lots of Alcohol.
