Disney’s “YOUNG WOMAN AND THE SEA,” the extraordinary true story of Trudy Ederle, the first woman to successfully swim the English Channel, is coming to theaters nationwide in a special engagement May 31, 2024.

Daisy Ridley (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”) stars as the accomplished swimmer who was born to immigrant parents in New York City in 1905. Through the steadfast support of her older sister and supportive trainers, she overcame adversity and the animosity of a patriarchal society to rise through the ranks of the Olympic swimming team and complete the staggering achievement – a 21-mile trek from France to England. “Young Woman and the Sea,” which also stars Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Stephen Graham, Kim Bodnia, Christopher Eccleston, and Glenn Fleshler, is directed by Joachim Rønning and written by Jeff Nathanson, based on the book “Young Woman and the Sea: How Trudy Ederle Conquered the English Channel and Inspired the World” by Glenn Stout. The producers are Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, and Jeff Nathanson, with John G. Scotti, Daisy Ridley, and Joachim Rønning serving as executive producers.

“Young Woman and the Sea” will open in select theaters May 31, 2024.

Casting News: Emma Watson as Belle | Kaya Scodelario Cast to 'Pirates 5'

This news just in and straight from Emma Watson's Facebook account. Watson will be starring as Belle in Disney's live-action adaptation of 'Beauty and the Beast'. Another name we are familiar with attached to the film is 'Breaking Dawn' director Bill Condon. The screenplay has been written by 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' screenwriter Stephen Chbosky.

'Beauty and the Beast' will be a musical and the first time Watson will sing in a movie. 'Beauty and the Beast' will be added to the long list of Disney's live action films such as 'Alice in Wonderland', 'Maleficent' and soon to be released 'Cinderella'.





We last saw Kaya Scodelario in 'The Maze Runner' adaptation. Well get ready to see her in the next Pirates franchise film. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be the 5th installment. Scodelario will join veteran actor Johnny Depp. 

Disney has confirmed that the film will release July 7th 2017. Shooting is scheduled toboggan next month in Australia. The film will be directed by Norwegian directors Joachim and Espen Sandberg.
