A Mid-Week Moment With Deitre | Book Signing Giveaway

It has been a little over two solid weeks since I've made "A Saturday Moment with Deitre" post. I feel like I have neglected you guys, but let's just say when life calls, sometimes, we have to stop what we are doing. Even if we are on that super awesome page that we simply can't break away from, and answer to the calling. Can you believe it, your teen reviewer Josh has some big decisions to make. I can't believe that graduation is quickly approaching and he will be heading out to the big world without his parents looking over his shoulders. He will no longer hear me say, "where is your review Josh, Yara needs to post it!" He won't be there to open up the boxes of books that we get to sift through and see who gets what. I guess it will just be me doing that, unless I recruit the siblings to take over his place and Yara's younger one as well. We have to start them at some point. So I'll give you a hint of his choices. Which one do you think he will choose? (Leave a comment below, we would love to see your guesses.)

Lastly, A Leisure Moment has been very busy. I can't even try to take all the credit, but my wonderful husband wanted to try his hand at podcasting and the rest is history. I'm so grateful that authors have taken the time to speak with us and have a casual conversation about their love for literature. Recently we attended The Lovestruck Tour and boy are you going to be in for a treat. OUaT and A Leisure Moment is giving away a signed copy of one of the books from the signing. This is what we need you to do. You can head on over to iTunes or Stitcher, subscribe to the podcast, listen to some amazing discussions and leave us a review. It's that easy. I must say that you will feel like you were right there with us. As a bonus when you sign up for the giveaway, we will automatically include you in on our custom newsletter that A Leisure Moment puts together about twice a month. For your convenience I've added the links to our latest podcasts and author conversations. Be sure to check them out! Until next time...

Happy Reading (and Listening)

Summary: (from goodreads) Eleven minutes passed before Delaney Maxwell was pulled from the icy waters of a Maine lake by her best friend Decker Phillips. By then her heart had stopped beating. Her brain had stopped working. She was dead. And yet she somehow defied medical precedent to come back seemingly fine-
despite the scans that showed significant brain damage. Everyone wants Delaney to be all right, but she knows she's far from normal. Pulled by strange sensations she can't control or explain, Delaney finds herself drawn to the dying. Is her altered brain now predicting death, or causing it?

Then Delaney meets Troy Varga, who recently emerged from a coma with similar abilities. At first she's reassured to find someone who understands the strangeness of her new existence, but Delaney soon discovers that Troy's motives aren't quite what she thought. Is their gift a miracle, a freak of nature-or something much more frightening?

For fans of best-sellers like Before I Fall and If I Stay, this is a fascinating and heart-rending story about love and friendship and the fine line between life and death.

Fracture is a smaller book with such a large kick to it. This novel gripped me from the beginning. Megan build a story here with real life drama, that can happen to anyone around us. Her writing is so realistic, I feel the cold water as I'm reading it. I can't imagine what it takes to write about a near-death experience but Megan does a fantastic job doing it.

Fracture is told from Delaney POV. Delaney has fallen in a frozen lake while hanging out with her friends. She was rescued at eleven minutes. In medical text books eleven minutes you should not be able to practically be alive you should be in a vegetable stage. Delaney is none of that. Delaney begins to recover and the doctors are dumbfounded. Before Delaney is released from the hospital though she experience a strange experience. It seems Delaney now can sense when person is dying, she feels a very strong pull towards that person. Of course the doctors write her off as she is simply hallucinating which is a common effect left after what she has been through. So now Delaney is faced with not just getting back to the way things were before her accident, she now has to figure out the new brain and its new tricks. Will she be able to jump back into school and stay as Valedictorian or will she loose everything she had. Delaney has so much going on and it begins to cause such a down fall for her, she cant keep up with her old life but her new life is even just as difficult, how destructive will everything get from her? You'll find out in January when you pick up your own copy of Fracture.

This book helps us understand about hope and not giving up when everything seems to be over and done with. Never give up when you feel that you have been surround with darkness. The characters and emotions in this novel are just amazing, I cant find anything I can criticize about Megan's writing. Its just fantastically written, end of story!
