When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous ex-wife.
You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement – a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love.
You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle.
Assume nothing.

Twisted and deliciously chilling, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen's The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Read between the lies.

The Wife Between Us is perfect for those that love your typical thrillers. This one will surely mess with your mind, while you sit there and try to figure out all the puzzle pieces. You won't be able to, trust me. The plot twist(s) are not what you expect. The story starts out a little slow but eventually you start to get deeper into the thriller. Then you have to finish the book to know the final puzzle piece and I bet you, it's not what you thought.

I was not blown away by this book and at one point, I might have even give this book 3 trees, but then it finally had some great "twists" and that sealed the 4 trees. You'll get a couple plot twists that will make this book what it is. If you find it slow or flat at first, keep reading, you'll get to the twists in no time. You will be kept guessing, the authors really did take care of that part. You might find this book can compare to others you have read, but you'll still enjoy reading it.

The characters in The Wife Between Us aren't all faves, but some have really good chemistry while others fall annoying. I really enjoyed Nellie, but Vanessa becomes a person, I would like to throat punch at times. But I guess, this might be a good ingredient in a psychological thriller, right? That means the characters, good or bad, got under my skin.

I won't disclose much of the story, because then I would be spoiling it and that's a big No-No. Vanessa is the ex-wife of Richard, who is engaged to Nellie. Vanessa went from living the high life, to now having to work a 9-5 and living with her aunt. Then to add salt to the wound, the young girlfriend Richard left her for, she finds out they are now engaged. This starts a mission for Vanessa, to break up the marriage between Nellie and Richard. Why is Vanessa so hung up on destroying everything for them since he was abusive? Well this is as much info as you will get from me. You'll have to pick up a copy to know what happens and what those twists are.

Thanks to St. Martin's Press, we have 3 copies of The Wife Between Us to giveaway to our readers. This will only be available to US. Please enter below.

Book Review: I Love My Hair: A Coloring Book of Braids, Coils, and Doodle Dos by Andrea Pippins

I Love My Hair: A Coloring Book of Braids, Coils, and Doodle Dos
Author: Andrea Pippins
Reading Level: All Ages
Genres: Coloring Book | Arts
Released: November 10th 2015
Review Source: Schwartz & Wade

For fans of Johanna Basford’s Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest comes a hip, gorgeous doodle coloring book about all things hair. Unlike other adult coloring books, which depict nature scenes and cityscapes, this title celebrates strong, confident women with a passion for style, design, and fashion.

Revel in the mesmerizing patterns and intricate details of Andrea Pippins’s delicate pen-and-ink illustrations, ready for you to color, complete, and embellish. Lose yourself in page after page of bold hairstyles and accessories, from rows of braids, to Mohawks, to sweeping updos, to cascades of ribbons and beads. Be transported to another world as you ink in Medusa’s slithering coiffure, Cleopatra’s elaborate headdress, and Marie Antoinette’s towering bouffant.

Perfect for experienced color-inners and newcomers alike. Coloring enthusiasts of all ages will love this empowering and stylish book. So go ahead—let your hair down, grab some pens or pencils, and add some color to your life.

This is my first review dedicated to a coloring book. So honestly I didn't know where to begin or end. Just know that this coloring book is fantastic. Each page gives you a different design that is dedicated to hair with great messages. The pages are very easy to color and you will catch yourself sitting for hours engrossed in the pages. There isn't one intricate design I didn't love, you flip through the pages and struggle to pick one to start with because you want to color them all. I used colored pencils only when coloring on the pages and they worked very well. The paper used in the book is not thin and can take the beating on colored pencils being pressed into the pages. As far as any other type of coloring tool such as markers, crayons or pens, I think you can use all of them and not have any issues.

If I have to say one great thing about this coloring book, is that the pages are not busy, you are not overwhelmed by the lovely designs. As you can see I have shared some samples of what you will find inside the coloring book.

Highly recommend for this Holiday season!

Book Review: Salt & Stone by Victoria Scott

Salt & Stone
Fire & Flood #2
Author: Victoria Scott
Reading Level: Young Adult
Genre: Science Fiction
Released: February 24th 2015
Review Source: Scholastic Press

In Fire & Flood, Tella Holloway faced a dangerous trek through the jungle and across the desert, all to remain a Contender in the Brimstone Bleed for a chance at obtaining the Cure for her brother. She can't quit--she has to win the race, save Cody, and then fight to make sure the race stops before it can claim any more lives. In the next legs of the race, across the ocean and over mountains, Tella will face frostbite, sharks, avalanche, and twisted new rules in the race.

But what if the danger is deeper than that? How do you know who to trust when everyone's keeping secrets? What do you do when the person you'd relied on most suddenly isn't there for support? How do you weigh one life against another?

The race is coming to an end, and Tella is running out of time, resources, and strength. At the start of the race there were one hundred twenty-two Contenders. As Tella and her remaining friends start the final part of the race, just forty-one are left--and only one can win.

Guess who loves this series? Shannon loves this series. Now that we’ve established the obvious, let’s get down to business. So we’re back at the Brimstone Bleed, a race for survival, a race to save a life. The contenders are to race through the four ecosystems, jungle, desert, ocean, and mountain and be the first person at the end to get the one and only cure of their loved one. In Fire & Flood our contenders have survived through the jungle and desert, with just two more to go anything could happen, anyone could win, and not everyone will cross the finish line.

You know what I love best about this series? Tella Holloway. The way Scott writes her makes her so believable as a teenager, I found her annoying at times, and even stronger in others. She loves fiercely and her heart is unbelievably huge. She is not only fighting for a cure for her brother, Cody, but she’s fighting for her friends in the Brimstone Bleed, and the Pandoras.

Speaking of the Pandoras, they are probably my second favorite thing about this series, Guy Chambers is in a close running, but the Pandoras win. For genetically altered/made they have such a strong personality and a true presence in the story. If they weren’t around our contenders wouldn’t have a shot at even finishing the race, let along actually winning.

This is a series that should definitely be checked out by any fan of young adult survival stories, dystopian, or The Hunger Games. The characters are fun, strong, and real. They’re not perfect, they make mistakes, and dwell on things that shouldn’t be, but overall they’re true.

Check out my review for Fire & Flood, book 1.

Unmarked
The Legion #2
Author: Kami Garcia
Reading Level: Young Adult
Genre: Fantasy | Paranormal
Released: September 30th 2014
Review Source: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers

The heart-pounding sequel to the instant New York Times bestseller, Unbreakable, by New York Times bestselling Beautiful Creatures co-author Kami Garcia.

He is here... and he could be anyone.

Kennedy Waters lives in a world where vengeance spirits kill, ghosts keep secrets, and a demon walks among us–a demon she accidentally set free.

Now Kennedy and the other Legion members–Alara, Priest, Lukas, and Jared–have to hunt him down. As they learn more about the history of the Legion and the Illuminati, Kennedy realizes that the greatest mystery of all does not belong to any secret order, but to her own family. With the clock ticking and the life of someone she loves hanging in the balance, Kennedy has to ask the question she fears most: what is it about her past that has left her Unmarked?

Kennedy and the rest of the Legion are up against Andras, the demon wanting to open up the gates of hell. It's up to the Legion to bring them down, but with Kennedy still unmarked she's having doubts if she's even suppose to be a part of their group and is doubting that her friends will still be her friends if she really isn't the fifth member they've been looking for.

The follow up book to Unbreakable brings so much light to new parts of the story and it helps to shed some more light on the characters that you already love. Kennedy is growing in what she hopes to be her path with the Legion, and watching her go on that journey is amazing. Kami Garcia brings it to life so well with her words, she makes you fall in love with all the characters almost immediately, and within this second book she just helps your love deepen for the Legion members: Jared, Lukas, Priest and Alara. I really enjoyed this book mainly because the focus wasn't completely on "ghost hunting", but because it brought in new evils that they had to deal with, and that they weren't completely familiar with-so instead of seeing Jared, Lukas, Priest and Alara doing what they do best you get to follow them as they learn new things. I really enjoyed that aspect of the book-if there isn't one thing I love more than following beloved characters on a trip it's seeing them on a trip that they aren't familiar with.

I recommend this book completely, and if you haven't read Unbreakable read that first and then read Unmarked.

Kami Garcia is the #1 New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, Wall Street Journal & international bestselling co-author of the Beautiful Creatures Novels (Beautiful Creatures, Beautiful Darkness, Beautiful Chaos & Beautiful Redemption). Beautiful Creatures has been published in 50 countries and translated in 39 languages. The Beautiful Creatures movie released in theaters on February 14, 2013.

Kami is also the author of Unbreakable, the first book her paranormal solo series, THE LEGION (coming October 1, 2013.

Kami grew up outside of Washington DC, wore lots of black, and spent hours writing poetry in spiral notebooks. As a girl with Southern roots, she has always been fascinated by the paranormal and believes in lots of things “normal” people don’t. She’s very superstitious and would never sleep in a room with the number “13″ on the door. When she is not writing, Kami can usually be found watching disaster movies, listening to Soundgarden, or drinking Diet Coke.

Kami has an MA in education, and taught in the Washington DC area until she moved to Los Angeles, where she was a teacher & Reading Specialist for 14 years. In addition to teaching, Kami was a professional artist and led fantasy book groups for children and teens. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, son, daughter, and their dogs Spike and Oz (named after characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
