I'm sensing a pattern with the books I've been reading lately, They are all exceptional. Sophie brings her A-game in Firelight. I read the book in a matter of less than 2 days again. Sophie introduces us to a new world of Dragons, they are called Draki. Draki are descendant from the Dragons from long ago, they live an average of 200 years and can change into human form. The way Sophie wrote these new mythological creatures was brilliant! I was immediately captivated by the story, how it starts with this intense suspense one moment and then brings in the Romeo and Juliet love story just makes you sink your teeth into the book.
The main characters are Jacinda , she is a special Draki. She is a fire-breather which makes her stand out since in a long time in several generations past her tribe has not had a Fire-breather. It was believe to be extinct. Then you also meet Cassian, he is the son of the alpha Draki in the tribe. Cassian quest is to be mated with Jacinda. Jacinda of course is opposed and so is her mother and twin sister. Jacinda lost her father to the Hunters. Hunters are those who chased down the Draki to then butcher them and sell them off. There is a Hunter we also meet right away and that is Will. Will does something when he crosses path with Jacinda that is unheard off. Then you also have a few side characters that help the story flow of course.
So of course when I finished the book, I was now checking to see the release date of book 2 called Vanish. So begins another long wait to be immersed in this tantalizing story, what will Jacinda do next!
Sophie Jordan I also found out writes under another pen name, which is Sharie Kohler. I've now ordered the 1st book in the series Moon Chasers. So look for that review in the future. I will finally get to meet Sophie this Saturday at a book signing here in Houston, so of course Im thrilled.
