Summary: (from goodreads) In the darkest corners of the night in Caldwell, New York, a conflict like no other rages. Long divided as a terrifying battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the city is home to a band of brothers born to defend their race: the warrior vampires of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

John Matthew has come a long way since he was found living among humans, his vampire nature unknown to himself and to those around him. After he was taken in by the Brotherhood, no one could guess what his true history was- or his true identity. Indeed, the fallen Brother Darius has returned, but with a different face and a very different destiny. As a vicious personal vendetta takes John into the heart of the war, he will need to call up on both who he is now and who he once was in order to face off against evil incarnate.

Xhex, a symphath assassin, has long steeled herself against the attraction between her and John Matthew. Having already lost one lover to madness, she will not allow the male of worth to fall prey to the darkness of her twisted life. When fate intervenes, however, the two discover that love, like destiny, is inevitable between soul mates.

After waiting a full year we finally get the next installment in the Black dagger Brotherhood series. Well worth the wait. We Have John Matthew and Xhex Story in this book. I'm so glad we finally got to understand JM's story and also we get to know who Xhex is. Is this a keeper , 100% so. The whole series is a keeper for me. Now we must be patient again to see who will the next book be about. Maybe she will do it on Payne or Blay. So if you have not read this series I strongly suggest you go out and buy it, and don't just buy the first book, you will want to have at least the first 3 books, so when we finish one your not kicking yourself that you don't have the next one. This series keeps being my favorite adult series ever.

Ward tells the story in such a compelling way, you literally feel that you are jumping in the car with the brothers to go on patrol. The romance is so realistic, Ward does not give us a Cinderella love story. We feel pain, love, hate and sympathy when we read Lover Mine. The author just knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat at all times. Lover mine goes down as my second favorite in the series after Lover Awakened.
