Books who become Movies News

The Latest news on the books that are being turned into movies.

The Hunger Games
Author: Suzanne Collins
Released: October 1st 2008
Publisher: Scholastic, Inc.

Summary: (from goodreads) In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

We finally have the 3 main characters for the series announced by Lionsgate. This is good news because that means they will start filming soon. So who are the lucky guys that will play alongside Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss). That would be Josh Hutcherson as Peeta. He is known for his parts in The Kids are all Right. Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant and Journey to the Center of the Earth. I think in those movies I just mentioned he did a good job. now I will say he will need to bring his A game for Peeta, lots of fans of the book that he will have to prove his part and make us believe.

Now we move on to Gale that will be played by Liam Hemsworth. We know Liam from The Last Song. He has another movie now in production called Arabian Nights. Again I will repeat that Liam will also have to bring his A game as well. These are such big parts with a huge fan following that they can only bring their best.

  1. I guess I shouldn't be surprised with the part of Peeta. This actor is pretty good. Although he wasn't the one I was rooting for all along, I still think he will do a great job. As for Gale's role, this Liam guy is new to me, so I can't judge. I pictured him looking different, but with movie magic I'm sure they will do a good job. I am very excited to see this movie. Who would have thought, me having only read these books a few months ago would get so into them =). It's a great series. Not one for the faint of heart, though. I'm glad the director said he would keep it clean enough for a younger audience to view, though.

  2. Neither one is quite how I pictured the characters in my head. I guess I will have to wait to see the movie before I can really say one way or the other. It depends on how well they do with the characters.

  3. You know....I feel like I just have to wait and see....I think it's like you said - if the actor can really bring his "A Game" (plus some!)I think it'll work, but it's a pretty intense series to be a part of, so they really have to become the characters to be believable, in my opinion. I really can't wait to see how they adapt the series to the big screen...although it's so seldom as good as the book I still think it can be awesome with the right combination and chemistry of the actors.
