Booking Through Thursday: 7/28/11 How late have you stayed up reading

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly event hosted HERE. A Weekly meme about (mostly) books and reading.

What’s the latest you’ve ever stayed up reading a book? Is staying up late reading a usual thing for you?

Yara's Answer: Well if you read my tweets sometimes you will see that I usually get little sleep when reading. I will say the latest I've stayed up was on a few occasions for just a couple of books. I've either gone to a midnight release and began reading as soon as I got back home or I've downloaded the book on to my nook at midnight and began reading at that time. I have stop reading usually 1 hour before I have to get up to take the kids to school and I have to begin my work day. So we are talking about 6AM. Now you might ask, is it worth it to be a zombie the rest of the day for a book, YES every single time.

Ana's Answer: Guilty!! Yes, I have stayed up pretty late reading. The latest I think was 3:00 AM. The only problem is that I can't be in bed reading because I end up falling asleep too quick. I have to go to the living room and lay on the couch in order to stay awake. It doesn't happen too often, but if it's a book that is being released at Midnight, I will stay up late reading it just because I waited to long to finally get my hands on it, well not literally, since I get those books on my Nook, but you know what I mean.

  1. Me too! I have stayed up ALL NIGHT reading, took my shower and gone to work. MANY MANY TIMES! It is not unusual for me to stay up reading until 500am or 530am and get up at 630am to go to work! hehe....it is SO WORTH IT!

  2. My boyfriend tells me that when one of the Harry Potter books came out (I'm not sure which one), he ran out and bought his copy, then stayed up all night reading, called in to work (he told them he had to take his sister to the doctor), then finished it that day!

I told him that was terrible irresponsible of him to call in to work, but then I admitted, "Okay, I've stayed up all night to finish books plenty of times, then was miserable at work the following day."

  4. Since I work in the late afternoon-evening I tend to stay up pretty late reading because I don't have anywhere to be in the morning. Of course that will need to stop one school starts back up again.

  5. Longest I have ever stayed up is around 4:30a..and I think that was when I was reading the twilight series. Now a days I don't go to bed until 1am. My youngest (4yr old)is a night owl. So I lay in her bed and read while she plays in her bed. She is usually out at midnight and then I read until 1am.and its always worth it :)

  6. I think the one thing I like more than reading is sleeping. So sleeping always wins out. It's been a really long time since I read a book that was sooo good that I didn't want to go to sleep

  7. This summer, I have been powering through the YA novels and get so caught up that I'll look up from my book and it's 3:30-4am. It's great because the books are good, but I'm exhausted the next day! ;)

I'm currently obsessed with a book by a new author that I'm working with: (S)Mythology by Jeremy Tarr. It's a modern day fairy tale that is wry and whimsical, and tackles life...death...and the Underworld. The book is super cute and has illustrations by artist Katy Smail, which really bring the main character Sophie to life.

You can read the first three chapters and check out the illustrations at www.smythology.co.uk or check out the book on Amazon here: http://amzn.to/Shardcover.

Enjoy! And, get some sleep! ;)
