Summary: (from goodreads) Payne, twin sister of Vishous, is cut from the same dark, warrior cloth as her brother: A fighter by nature, and a maverick when it comes to the traditional role of Chosen females, there is no place for her on the Far Side… and no role for her on the front lines of the war, either.

When she suffers a paralyzing injury, human surgeon Dr. Manuel Manello is called in to treat her as only he can- and he soon gets sucked into her dangerous, secret world. Although he never before believed in things that go bump in the night- like vampires- he finds himself more than willing to be seduced by the powerful female who marks both his body and his soul.

As the two find so much more than an erotic connection, the human and vampire worlds collide … just as a centuries old score catches up with Payne and puts both her love and her life in deadly jeopardy.

WOW, Utterly amazing!! I have to say that J.R. Ward’s The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series is hands down my ultimate favorite series. She never disappoints in any of her books and especially not in this one. I cried!! I actually cried in this story. Besides the story of Zsadist, this is the only other story that touched my deeply and shocked me tremendously. I must admit that the cover helped me enormously while reading the story and I was able to picture Payne as the girl on the cover. As for the characters, we meet some new ones and although I am a little skeptical about these new characters and did not understand their meaning in this story, I know that's the way Ward draws you in. You wonder about these characters and when you least expect it they are trapped in the world of The Black Dagger Brotherhood in Caldwell and are linked to each other in ways your could have never imagined. This story closed a couple of questions lingering behind from the previous book Lover Mine, but opened a whole new set of questions leaving me anxiously waiting the next book in the series Lover Reborn set to be released in March. I am highly anticipating this next book and I am twitching to get my hands on it.

This is the story of Payne, Vishous’s twin sister who has been entrapped by their mother in the Sanctuary. When she is finally released from her mother’s hold and unto her brother’s world, Payne never believed that she will remain trapped especially in this world but in a completely different way. Guess mommy dearest finally let her go but not without punishment. We finally hear the background story to between Vishous and his parents and problems arise between Doc Jane and Vishous putting a strain in their marriage. The new comer’s are Xhor and his band of bastards traveling millions of miles in the search of the person who killed his father, the Bloodletter. This get really interesting and i am curious to see where Ward takes these characters and place them. Manuel Manello, another new comer. um.. can i say WOW. I love this guy. hands down my dream guy. Dr. Manello is called upon because he’s the best surgeon and because Doc Jane highly recommend him. Dr. Manello has to operate on someone or something he never knew existed, oh i forgot to mention, Doc Jane has some explanation to do! We also revisit the love triangle between Blayton, Quinn and Saxton and boy does it get interesting!!! Can’t wait to see how that story unfolds. I hope I was able to give you a glimpse of what you should expect of this book but no spoilers. Trust me once you open the world to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, you will never regret it!!! Amazing read, and I highly recommend it to ADULT ONLY if you haven’t read any yet!
