Patrick Carman’s Dark Eden 2: Eve of Destruction is another terrifying journey into the depths of fear, love, revenge,

Fresh new ideas in books are always welcome. Especially, when nowadays, once a topic gets “hot” it seems like many, try to cash in with their own unique version. In the series of Dark Eden, I was greatly surprised to find such a unique way of storytelling. The book itself, Dark Eden 2, is a creepy thriller, which is immaculately written. The characters are very realistic, in a way that they grow and react like an average person. The flow of the book moves along quickly, while at the same time teasing the reader with a great anticipation for the next major event in the plot.

When a group of kids are cured of the their worse fears, all seems well. Sadly, that is not the case. For the cure comes with a heavy cost. The group begins to have serious ailments that usually befall the elderly. With the help of a “mad lady” the kids realize that the price they paid for the cure, is something they could never get back, their youth.

An exciting book about immortality, the author uses another tactic to immerse the reader into his story. With an interactive website that shows videos of scenes from the book, Patrick Carman has done a great job of modernizing his book. With the digital world growing in enormous leaps, Carman does an excellent job of combining the two aspects of literacy, to give the reader a fresh and unique way to get involved into the story.
