Summary: (from goodreads) The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

Why, oh why did I wait so long to read this book! Half-Blood is an incredible start to an amazing series. Jennifer definitely has a great imagination. She was able to combine Greek mythology and a great forbidden love story and bring it to life. Incredible, simply incredible. Once I picked up and started reading Half-Blood, I couldn’t find myself being able to put it down. Every page was full of suspense and I found myself thinking "OMG, what does that mean?" Or, "What would I do if I were in that position, would I be able to do what she did?" Half-Blood isn't just a book about Gods, Daimons, and hot guys, it’s a book that puts your heart on the table. I don’t want to say how and/or why because I don’t want to give up more of the story, but Alex had to do something that takes a lot of courage. Something that a lot of us wouldn’t be able to do. I can't wait to read Pure next!

Alex and her mother have ran from the safety of the Covenant. Never questioning her mother's motive for leaving, she tries to blend in the mortal world and go on with her life. But there is a problem. Daimons find them and Alex is nearly killed and is forced to go back to the Covenant, without her mother. Alex has a hard time dealing with her mother's death, as any teenager would. Upon returning back to the Covenant, she is confronted by her uncle, Marcus who is the Dean and her step-father, who is now the Minister of Counsel. Determined to get her life back, she promises to practice all summer and catch up on her fighting skills before school starts again in the fall. On her first day of practice, she sees that Aiden, the hot Pure, is going to be her instructor. Oh, oh is right. She is in for a long summer. If things couldn’t get any worse, Alex finds out some disturbing news about her mother and a revelation about herself. Alex's world will be flipped upside down, but will there be that special someone beside her to help her out?

Please don’t be like me and wait so long to start on this series. I promise you will NOT be disappointed!
