OUaT: Welcome Samantha once again to OUaT. We are thrilled that On Dublin Street was acquired by Penguin. What was your first reaction to the offer?

Oh thank you, guys! I am so pleased to be back at OUaT and under such wonderful circumstances. I was absolutely floored by Penguin’s offer. Honestly, it’s taken me a while to process it. It was an amazing offer from a very awesome and enthusiastic publisher and definitely the best way forward for On Dublin Street.

OUaT: As a self-published/Indie Author how or what would you tell yourself, so you would not give up? On the possibility of getting published/acquired by a well known publisher?

To be honest, after I became a successful indie author, I had quite happily given up on being noticed by a traditional publisher. I write for a living and that was all I ever wanted. When I wrote On Dublin Street, I had no idea that it would lead to me signing with a traditional publisher. Signing with a trad publisher had never made sense financially before then, but ODS’ success blew me away, and the offer from Penguin made sense not only for myself and my family but because I couldn’t provide ODS with the reach that it needs.

OUaT: Lately a few self-published/Indie authors are getting books deals, what message would you tell those still hoping for their big break?

That this latest trend tells us things may be changing. It may be a far more sensible idea for would-be authors to self-publish their work, market the heck out of it, and see if it makes some noise on Amazon and B&N. If it does, the trad publishers might come knocking. Is this a faster way of getting noticed than sending out MS’ that languish on the slush pile for months? Maybe, maybe not. It all depends on your book and how much energy you’re willing to expend getting readers to notice it.

OUaT: Who were the first 5 people you shared your big news regarding On Dublin Street?

My mum, dad, brother, aunt and my best friend.

OUaT: Can you describe twitter style in 140 characters or less why everyone should read On Dublin Street?

It has a relatable, strong heroine. Sexy, intuitive, Alpha hero with Scottish accent. Passion, humor and drama - a very romantic read.

OUaT: Tell us 5 yummy details about Braden Carmichael?

Funny. Smart. Sexy. Good with his hands. Relentless.

OUaT: Favorite line or phrase from On Dublin Street?

“Babe, nice lingerie is for seducing a man. I’m already fucking seduced.”

OUaT: What are you currently working on now?

I am currently working on Book Two in the world of On Dublin Street! Very excited about this and enjoying teasing my readers mercilessly with my silence regarding the details about it.

  • Never in a million years would I: eat octopus.
  • If Zombie-Apocalypse was about to happen: I’d be all set to live underground with my many tins of beans and soup. No joke. My cupboards are ridiculous.
  • I like to: chill out on my balcony on a sunny autumn day with my mp3 player, a mug of some hot yummy substance, and a notebook and pen.
  • There's no smoke without: a smoke machine.
  • I wish I could stop: eating Pizza. I’m going to turn into one.
  • Sometimes I wish: Braden Carmichael was real.
  • In front of me I see: a whole lot of opportunity.
  • When life gives me: what I want, I remember every day to be grateful.

Summary: (from goodreads) Four years ago, Jocelyn Butler left her tragic past behind in the States and started over in Edinburgh. Burying the grief, ignoring her demons, and forging ahead without any real attachments has worked well for her so far but when Joss moves into a fantastic apartment on Dublin Street, her carefully guarded world is shaken to its core by her new roommate's sexy older brother.

Braden Carmichael is a man who always gets what he wants. And what he wants is Jocelyn in his bed. Knowing how skittish Joss is concerning any kind of relationship, Braden proposes a sexual arrangement that should satisfy the intense attraction between them without it developing into anything 'more'. An intrigued Jocelyn agrees, completely unprepared for the Scotsman and his single-minded determination to strip the stubborn young woman bare... to the very soul.
