Sometimes danger is hard to see... until it’s too late.

Britt Pfeiffer has trained to backpack the Teton Range, but she isn't prepared when her ex-boyfriend, who still haunts her every thought, wants to join her. Before Britt can explore her feelings for Calvin, an unexpected blizzard forces her to seek shelter in a remote cabin, accepting the hospitality of its two very handsome occupants—but these men are fugitives, and they take her hostage.

In exchange for her life, Britt agrees to guide the men off the mountain. As they set off, Britt knows she must stay alive long enough for Calvin to find her. The task is made even more complicated when Britt finds chilling evidence of a series of murders that have taken place there... and in uncovering this, she may become the killer’s next target.

But nothing is as it seems in the mountains, and everyone is keeping secrets, including Mason, one of her kidnappers. His kindness is confusing Britt. Is he an enemy? Or an ally?

BLACK ICE is New York Times bestselling author Becca Fitzpatrick’s riveting romantic thriller set against the treacherous backdrop of the mountains of Wyoming. Falling in love should never be this dangerous…

A girl dealing with the break-up from who she expected to be her one true love decides to spend her spring break backpacking along the Teton Range with her best friend. The last thing Britt expected was to get caught in a blizzard on her way up to Korbie's cabin before their hiking adventures began. She only wanted an escape from her break-up when things turned for the worse. Britt and Korbie are forced to find shelter nearby and end up with the mysterious Mason and antagonizing Shaun. Two fugitives wanting to find a path off the mountain with Britt's help.

I really enjoyed this book, I had not read anything by Becca Fitzpatrick before but had always wanted to. Because of this book and how well written it was I look forward to reading her other work. The characters are so well developed that you fall in love with them almost instantly. Mason makes you go back and forth between loving him and hating him, which is everything you'd want from his character. Britt survives the situation in a way that we all would hope we could survive if put into her position. Britt has her faults, but don't we all. And those faults definitely don't outweigh the good her character has-her strength, her brains, her sense of humor and personality. It all works very well.

As well the story will take you on one ride that is enjoyable. I found myself guessing at what would happen next just to find out that what I had hoped would happen didn't. And I loved that, not knowing where the story was going. It wasn't completely predictable, which lately I feel that every story is predictable in one way or another. While there is so much I want to elaborate on I would also like to not give away any spoilers, so with that I will recommend that you read Black Ice and hopefully you'll enjoy it just as much as I did!

  1. I haven't read anything by Fitzpartrick either and this sounds like the best starting point. The character dynamic sounds like it'd keep me reading as well! Thanks for the review Bri!
