When You're Back
Rosemary Beach #12
Author: Abbi Glines
Reading Level: New Adult
Genre: Romance
Released: June 30th 2015
Review Source: Atria Books

A chance meeting in Rosemary Beach has turned into a fairy-tale romance as Reese prepares to move in with Mase on his family ranch in Texas. With the loving support of the Colts, and her recent discovery that she has family of her own, Reese can finally move on from the dark horrors of her past and into a bright future.

But Aida isn’t going to let that happen. The beautiful blonde has been raised to think of Mase as her cousin, but it’s clear to Reese that Aida doesn’t love Mase like a cousin should.

And then there’s Captain, the inescapable stranger who has connections in Dallas and Rosemary Beach—and who conveniently shows up wherever Reese happens to be. Hot, mysterious, and plain-speaking, Captain isn’t afraid to tell Reese what he thinks about Mase—and how he feels about her.

As the competition for Mase and Reese’s hearts heats up, Reese’s past begins to unravel, illuminating shocking truths that will forever change the lives of the happy couple—and set the final stories of Rosemary Beach in motion.

This is a New Adult romance novel recommended for ages 18+ due to sexual content and mature subject matter.

After a not so great upbringing Reese is finally working towards happiness and having the family she deserves. In When I’m Gone we’re introduced to Reese and Mase; Mase son of rock god Kiro Manning, half-brother to Nan and Harlow and sexy cowboy. Reese a girl whose stronger than most, taken advantage of by her stepdad, and went her whole life with a learning disability undiagnosed; with the two put together Reese hadn’t had much hope for herself or any confidence, until Mase that is, the only person that paid enough attention to see that she was not stupid, something was actually wrong.

So we pick up right after When I’m Gone, Reese has moved onto the farm, she’s got her biological father in her life, and things couldn’t be better with Mase… Until Mase’s sort of cousin shows up and demands a little too much attention, and gets way too emotional when then attention is not focused on herself. And then we’re also introduced (or have we met him before? Briefly perhaps) to the mysterious bad boy, Captain, Blaire’s brother, who definitely gets things a tad messy.

I definitely don’t think Abbi can stay away from those bad boys, she gives us the ever so sweet and sexy Mase, but then she’s gotta add the spice in Captain and definitely wanting us to know more about him, but he can definitely stay away from Reese (back off dude). I never have any complaints when it comes to any Abbi Glines books (seriously, she can do no wrong) but I kind of, sort of, felt like the ending was rushed, or maybe just was missing a chapter. The ending left us with an opening for a new book and new couple, but I wasn’t done with my current couple yet, I needed a little more of their happy ending.

Alright ladies and gents, if you’re reading this and you haven’t read The Rosemary Beach series, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! And if you have, thank goodness we’re both on the same page, and definitely know what’s up with the amazing Abbi Glines. Mase and Reese, I know your story ends here, but I’m hoping I’ll see you again. Captain I can’t wait to see you again ;) and Abbi I cannot wait to see how you are going to attempt to make us like Nan, you are seriously going to wield magic for that one.
