Lucky Blue Smith to be Published this November 2016
Transworld Publishers (UK) and Penguin Random House (US) have acquired a book by 18-year-old American model, musician, actor and social media superstar Lucky Blue Smith.
As one of the world’s biggest male models, Lucky Blue Smith has graced the covers of French Vogue and American GQ, has walked for designers including Tom Ford, Tommy Hilfiger and Moschino, and is the youngest ever signee of the iconic L’Oréal beauty house. He has garnered over 2.4 million Instagram followers, who follow his every move.
Aside from modelling, Lucky's upcoming projects include his first film role and releasing music with his sisters, as the drummer in their surf rock-inspired band, The Atomics.
Henry Vines, Senior Commissioning Editor at Transworld, bought world rights from Sarah Leon, Talent Director at Next Management. North American rights were acquired by Mallory Loehr, Senior Vice President, Publisher, Random House/Golden Books, Doubleday, and Crown Books for Young Readers.
The book will combine Lucky Blue Smith’s personal photographs with his writings, chronicling his journey so far, reflecting on his inspirations and influences, and offering advice to other teenagers growing up with the pressures of the modern world.
The book is due to be published in the UK by Bantam Press, in October 2016, and in the US by Random House Books for Young Readers on November 1, 2016 with a first printing of 150,000 copies. The cover and title will be revealed. (HC ISBN: 9781524718763 / EBK ISBN: 9781524718770)
‘We are thrilled to be publishing Lucky’s book here in the US,’ says Loehr. ‘His following is extraordinary, his fans are passionate, and we know that they will be clamoring for his book—and for a special behind-the-scenes look at his incredible journey.’
Faith Kates, Founder of Next Management, said: ‘Never in the history of male modeling has there been a Lucky Blue before. He is redefining the term supermodel. He is superman. A model, social media star, musician and actor he has it all and now a writer. He is among the style leaders of his generation. He is a pleasure to work with.’
Sarah Leon added, ‘Lucky is without doubt one of the most charismatic and relevant individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with, and as well as his loyal fans the book will be a must-read for anyone interested in the behind the scenes life of a modern day phenomenon. His global team at Next are very proud of him for this next endeavor.’
